All details about "UPI NEPAL" | NEPAL Banks Partnership | Launch Date:

Note - "UPI NEPAL" is not only for Indian visitors in Nepal, "UPI Nepal" is also for the citizens of Nepal. Citizens of Nepal will use "UPI Nepal" in their daily life.

"UPI NEPAL" is Planning to launch by end of this year 2022.

"UPI NEPAL" is owned by Payment Nepal (Gateway Payment Service Pvt. Ltd, a Payment System Operator licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank).

NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the International arm of National Payments Corporation of India has joined hands with Gateway Payments Service Pvt Ltd, authorized Payment System Operators in Nepal, and Manam Infotech Private Limited to deploy Unified Payments Interface(UPI) in Nepal.

Payment Nepal/Gateway Payment Service Pvt. Ltd (Owner of "UPI Nepal") and Nepal's fintech companies, all Banks in Nepal, Nepal's local card scheme companies, Nepal QR etc has signed a MoU aiming to build interoperability between banks in Nepal, a boost to the future of "UPI Nepal" in the country.

UPI should internationalize this also so that Nepalese traveling to India, and Indians traveling to Nepal should be able to pay the local merchant in foreign country also by UPI.

I heard Nepal's Central bank/Nepal's Rastra Bank is currently not allowed Nepalese traveling to India use UPI payment (only local UPI payment in Nepal allowed). But Our India's RBI allowed Indians to use UPI in other countries (i think after few years Nepal's Central bank will allow Nepalese traveling to India use UPI payment).

Note - Our Indian govt laws and RBI guidelines is not applicable in other countries. UPI Nepal will follow Nepal govt laws and Nepal's Central bank guidelines.

I saw many people are confused and they think other countries will not use our UPI and RuPay card because UPI and RuPay debit card has zero MDR policy. This policy is only for India and Indian bank issuing account holders. MDR charges for "UPI Nepal" will decide by Nepal govt, Nepal's central bank and Payment Nepal/Gateway Payment Service Pvt. Ltd (Owner of "UPI Nepal").

Yes, Infact already some popular international money transfer companies like Western Union, Paypal's Xoom, GooglePay USA, TerraPay in Europe, DBS bank Singapore, SBI Singapore and UAE, Malaysia etc k bahot se popular companies started International cross-border money transfer through UPI.

International UPI money transfer limit is also 2 lakhs per transaction.

Some US stock brokerage companies also start accepting and deposit money through UPI, If you want to invest in US stock market.

Indian entities yaha Nepal ka NPI integrate karega ussi tarah Nepali Entities UPI integrate karega, tab official launch hoga, uske baad first phase mein P2P and then second phase mein P2M trxn hoga na cross-border.

Nepal mein abhi bhi QR Payments and others mode se online trxn hota hai... without UPI 😜

Nepal UPI mainly cross border payment enable karne ke liye hi hain, you know very well😊

It means now Indian tourists can pay to Khalti Merchant having Fonepay QR(Khalti in Nepal is same like Phonepe, G-pay in India) through Scan & Pay.

Note: A minimal fee will be levied on the receiving of the payment.

Also, A conversion fee might be levied while converting INR to NPR & Vice versa.

Furthermore, within some days, Nepali citizens will also be able to make payments in Indian markets by scanning QR codes through their Khalti wallets.
