Can I convert my paid MRCC to a free companion card of my paid Platinum Travel card?

Hi all,

I have two AmEx cards. Both paid ones. MRCC is the older of the two and was given as a paid card. Subsequently, I also got myself an AmEx Platinum Travel card. This one again is a paid card.

However, Indian credit card geek community maintains that its possible to get MRCC as a free companion card. I just wanted to know if converting my paid MRCC to a free companion card would be as simple as asking nicely on the AmEx App's chat support? Or do I have to follow some other suggested procedure?

Just ask over phone. Shouldn't be a hassle.

Worst Case scenario - If they say they cant tag MRCC as a Companion Card on Plat. Travel, You just have to call every year for a fee waiver after the fee is posted and tell them to waive off on the basis of Plat. Travel holding.

Yes I guess, however they might issue you another MRCC or ask them if the exisiting one can be attached as supplimentary
