How to file a complaint against a bank on the RBI banking ombudsman portal

So just checked my ICICI bank FD, and guess what, FD maturity instruction is updated to Auto renew. It's worse in ICICI that there is no message or mail that maturity instructions are changed.

I have changed it back. It looks like the rot runs deep.

This is a serious fraud being done by the bank. If you take screenshots and all the proofs, you can get a major compensation from the bank for frauds

Was this FD created by the staff at the branch or by you yourself from netbanking/app?

I myself created it. I have the FD advice that clearly shows Auto renew is set to No. Even in Jan, I got mailers to auto renew. I didn't want to renew.

After HDFC bank episode, I casually checked ICICI and it is now set to auto renew. I am doing FD for 20 years but till now this has not happened. I certainly miss Citi bank for its services, never had these shenanigans.

Then you have all the proofs which are required against the bank when you complain to RBI. Take screenshot proofs of their renewal instructions changed too and complain to RBI and demand a hefty compensation

There was a CIBIL hit by HDFC without my consent on February 2025. I asked them to remove it and explain who authorized CIBIL hit without my consent as I didn't applied for any product or services.
They only removed CIBIL hit after long follow up & after sharing cibil report with controlnumber. But they are saying there are 4 CICs and they can check as per their policy. They can't do anything.

But CIBIL can't be checked by Transunion on their own and mentioning HDFC Name.
Purpose of CIBIL enquiry was mentioned as OTHERS.

It's been 30 days and still no clarification to my primary query how a reputed bank like HDFC can do CIBIL enquiry without consent and who authorized it.

Should I file a complaint to RBI ? Seeking suggestions.

Of course! That’s a no-brainer. But before you do that, if you haven’t already, send a final email reminder to the PNO, stating that HDFC has failed to resolve the issue even after 30 days of the initial complaint. Emphasize that if you do not receive a satisfactory response within the next 48–72 hours, you will escalate the matter to the RBIO and seek compensation for the time and effort wasted in resolving the issue, as well as for the unauthorized cibil inquiry that may have negatively impacted your credit score.

Already did that. PNO also repeated same reply. I gave them 3 working days time in last email & mentioned that if they dont provide proper answer to my query within above time frame, i will be approaching RBI Ombudsman for resolution of my query, still got same reply.

Now, I am considering whether it's worth it to complain to RBI Ombudsman for this or not ?

It depends on how much you care about your credit score. If I were in your place, I would have escalated it to the RBIO.

My rbi ticket got closed today with Closure clause : 14(9)(a). Don't know anything about it. Can someone please help here

Sbi rejected my cb card application. Contacted all levels of customer support upto c.s.head. All replied 'internal policies'. After few days received this mail from sbi about 'non availability of documents' but I submitted all documents whatever they asked. Can I lodge a complaint at RBIO? Contact them all again with the latest info and ask for specific missing info or documents.

Can I lodge a complaint at RBIO?

Ofc, but why don't you give another try with the same people? It takes a max of 1 hour to write a nice email with ai tools.

If ur aim is to get compensation, it still helps to write back and try all options before knocking at rbio doors.

I even asked c s head to reconsider the application. They rejected saying it's 'final declined' and can't be reconsidered. And gave cause internal policies.

So, it is now fruitful to contact them again?

I opened icici savings account in August 2024 online. During opening the account I received a sms about cibil hit by icici for personal loan which I never applied. I mailed icici pno. After multiple conversation with them through mail they gave me a SR No. and said the same will be processed by October 15, 2024.

After that I forgot about the issue. Resently when I checked my enquiry information of cibil, I found out that it's still there.

Can I now complain to RBIO after so many months?

@SJM
I don't think you will have a problem if you raise a complaint now.
You can raise RBIO complaint as long as last communication from bank is less than one year old.

I have got a unique situation that I'm currently facing in Bank of India. I've got a car loan and no mandate exists for that loan as the ECS mandate form was rejected by SBI. Then the branch manager at that time suggested me to keep the EMI amount in the savings account maintained at Bank of India and they'll debit it from that account. All was going well until the manager was transferred and a new guy took her place. Due to some issue the EMI amount was not deposited at the savings account in time, and ECS return charges were levied. But instead of levying it on the savings account he posted it to the loan account. Now the problem is this will attract interest on top of the penalty. Usually for failure of ECS return charges all the banks, including BOI, debit it from savings account or the account from which the EMI is getting debited from. Previously also this ECS return charges were levied once when the previous manager was present and it was reflected on the savings account which I paid for by depositing money to the savings account. Despite repeated requests the manager refused to post it to the savings account. I've written an email to CS at Bank of India highlighting the issue, but 4 days have passed and I've received no reply. Should I proceed with complaining about it to the RBI?

Boi is worst bank even zonal/ho level ppl do not reply.
If 30 days over complaint to bo.

Yeah, with BOI CS is really the absolute worst. The manager without any hesitation said to go ahead and complain. I already wrote an email to the CGRO over a week ago. No reply till date. There are no call centres either. It's just IVR. I'll wait for 30 days and proceed with RBI complaint.
