Since my bills are much more than 50k collectively , I paid it with 0.6% and earned 1.9% in rewards. For select and wealth DC less than 50k it doesn’t make sense.

Yes, I too tried a few times with rupay card but did not fetch merchant phonepe in SMS. Then made 3 transactions totalling 1.4L using Visa, and it fetched merchant phonepe for all 3 and reward points also credited instantly

An insider told us that one of the guys is going around and complaining about these "apps" which allow credit card payments with favourable MCC codes like PP, SS, JD, GS, HZ etc... not just RBI, he has sent these complaints to banks too... The complaint was made to PNO, PNO sent the complaint to RM, who knew these users personally, and they knew who the complainant was. The complaint was obviously dismissed basis RM's response with proper documentation. I don't know what to say, but I guess we'll have to be "discrete" about these things going forward. These things will continue to happen, its just it won't be in public platforms. Make sure you check MCC by doing a small transaction, if you're making large bill payments.
