Upi lite balance disappeared

I have upi lite with axis bank through Bhim app. Yesterday it showed my upi lite balance as zero whereas it should be around 1153. I sent DM on X to Bhim but there is no reply. Kindly advise how to raise complaint as there is pre set options in the app which does not address my concern.

Check if it is refunded to the bank account.

Till now no refund to bank account also. Got reply on X to wait for 4 days. So waiting now. If they transferred the balance to bank account, it should appear in transaction history which is not there.

1. Mail them with the screenshots bhim.support@npci.org.in and
2. Register a complaint here https://www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/upi/dispute-redressal-mechanism

This is solely the reason why I refuse to use UPI Lite. It is, by design, supposed to disappear even when you reinstall the app. However, several third-party apps like Google Pay and PhonePe back up their balance. So, essentially, even after you reinstall the app, the balance reappears.

This disappearance issue with BHIM even when you don't reinstall the app has been existent since as far as I can remember. There are plenty of reports on Reddit and X.

As @its_karan said, raise a complaint with NPCI BHIM Support. Hopefully the balance should be back. In the future, avoid using UPI Lite in BHIM. If you prefer a wallet system, use PayZapp, PhonePe, or Amazon Pay Wallet.

Thank you all for your support. Today balance reappeared in Bhim app upi lite. But this has weakened the faith in Bhim app.

I never had faith in BHIM..It is buggy app. It is SBI of upi apps.

I dumped UPI Lite the moment Wallet UPI became available. It has all the advantages of UPI Lite plus a ton more and none of the shortcomings -

1. Much higher transaction and balance limits. I have paid even 50k with Amazon Pay Wallet UPI at one go. You can't receive more than 10k at one go apparently.
2. You get a Wallet specific UPI ID which means you can receive payments in the Wallet too
3. Wallet money is on the server and not on your device
4. You can load it by UPI transfer and debit card with zero charges. You can possibly load it using CC but that will invite charges.

The only annoyance is the eKYC required for any Wallet UPI (except PayZApp in case you are an HDFC customer).
