1120 cr is earned from asset monetization i.e. by selling land and towers....it is in loss only...it is laughable to show profit by selling family silver

Leasing. As I said, fake news is what communism thrives on.

Time of govt company monopoly is gone, we want development and not lunch breaks every 2 hours.

And "Family silver", what family? Gandhi's lol? Shameless. The property is of public's, and that public has chosen a non socialist non communist Govt.

Btw I got to know about "leasing" from WhatsApp so obviously I'm wrong and you are right.

Sometimes when selling a property is difficult the workaround is to lease it for 99 years. It’s almost same as sold.
quite an assumption, but just to be clear here, it is certainly leased, what you assume is upto you but not a FACT. Fact is it is leased but to clear my stance, I want whole BSNL gone because of how much BSNL gave all Indians pain from last few decades. Every Indian knows this. The more BSNL is highlighted the more it get's criticized.

I don't think BSNL get's enough hate. They might, but after that lunch break.

For now it has been leased for 10 years as that’s the standard life of mobile towers

For the previous lease, they forgot to charge rent

Well, isn't that why we all including all the customers of BSNL were fed up. All those employees of theirs's have a fixed guaranteed salary, pension, insurance, tons of benefits which they know even the Govt can't take away. Even if BSNL vanishes tomorrow, the employees will still get salaries and shifted to some other company. Company as a whole they don't know how to run a company or their service. They couldn't even give offers before till airtel/jio started giving. Even airtel was like bsnl before till jio came in.

And ofc they are famous for their lunch breaks. And if there's wire cut in their broadband service, it will take a week or even months sometimes in order to get it fixed and forget getting money back for the service cut. It isn't really the fault of humans working for BSNL coz tomorrow if same humans work for other private companies, they would actually work for a living, and they know if they show BSNL type of attitude they will be booted off from that company.

So are we even surprised that BSNL employees forgot to raise an invoice for the payment? My father has a small business and we delivered product to LIC building a decade ago, and the only way to receive payment is for my father to raise an invoice to LIC and yes, he got the payment, which ofc was late which is always the case with PSU's and ofc a corrupt LIC employee took a small cut in order for my father to receive that payment and get it approved.

Highly inefficient are the only words for such PSU's. Same is the case nowdays with even some few private companies but big one's like hdfc, icici and previously yesbank where they know they can treat customer like shit coz tomorrow if their company fails, govt will come to rescue like they did to yesbank on the behest of taxpayers money. Govt should not treat private companies like govt companies, and get govt companies to work efficiently, which we have all seen in the past never happens so privatization is the only way.

Is privatization perfect? No. But the right balance is needed, and every alternate decade govt needs to support priv companies and then the psu's to make sure no company or employee take their job/service for granted.

All the towers of bsnl are given to jio and bsnl is taking last breadth...this is crony capitalism
I don't know how many towers are given. But definitely this has helped BSNL users too, in rural part where I come from, earlier they used to go off whenever there is power cut or heavy rains. Now that Jio is sharing the resouce, BSNL network is also available during monsoons and power cut. We have been using BSNL for more than decade and know the pain, and ported some to Airtel/Jio.

And I think it would be best if we keep the thread limited to Recharge plans than venting our political ideologies. Whatever is the reason, we won't get service unless we pay. Before Jio or after Jio.

I would think even with the recent price increase, our cellphone tarriffs may still be one of the cheapest on the planet.

I also find it funny that many of us (including me buy expensive phones) but check all the recharge plans carefully to see where we get the best possible value.

Otoh, some folks here who are in mid to latw 40s like I am, May concur that it was more fun to have a simple Nokia phone without internet in year 2000 than it's with a 1.5L phone today. My parents had a Siemens phone in 1999 which was more like a large cordless phone, about 1/2 kg in weight and used to take Sim card (yes, sim card, not just sim) with a battery backup of almost a day and peak calling rate of 16.80 per minute
