1120 cr is earned from asset monetization i.e. by selling land and towers....it is in loss only...it is laughable to show profit by selling family silver

Leasing. As I said, fake news is what communism thrives on.

Time of govt company monopoly is gone, we want development and not lunch breaks every 2 hours.

And "Family silver", what family? Gandhi's lol? Shameless. The property is of public's, and that public has chosen a non socialist non communist Govt.

Btw I got to know about "leasing" from WhatsApp so obviously I'm wrong and you are right.

Sometimes when selling a property is difficult the workaround is to lease it for 99 years. It’s almost same as sold.
quite an assumption, but just to be clear here, it is certainly leased, what you assume is upto you but not a FACT. Fact is it is leased but to clear my stance, I want whole BSNL gone because of how much BSNL gave all Indians pain from last few decades. Every Indian knows this. The more BSNL is highlighted the more it get's criticized.

I don't think BSNL get's enough hate. They might, but after that lunch break.

For now it has been leased for 10 years as that’s the standard life of mobile towers

For the previous lease, they forgot to charge rent

Well, isn't that why we all including all the customers of BSNL were fed up. All those employees of theirs's have a fixed guaranteed salary, pension, insurance, tons of benefits which they know even the Govt can't take away. Even if BSNL vanishes tomorrow, the employees will still get salaries and shifted to some other company. Company as a whole they don't know how to run a company or their service. They couldn't even give offers before till airtel/jio started giving. Even airtel was like bsnl before till jio came in.

And ofc they are famous for their lunch breaks. And if there's wire cut in their broadband service, it will take a week or even months sometimes in order to get it fixed and forget getting money back for the service cut. It isn't really the fault of humans working for BSNL coz tomorrow if same humans work for other private companies, they would actually work for a living, and they know if they show BSNL type of attitude they will be booted off from that company.

So are we even surprised that BSNL employees forgot to raise an invoice for the payment? My father has a small business and we delivered product to LIC building a decade ago, and the only way to receive payment is for my father to raise an invoice to LIC and yes, he got the payment, which ofc was late which is always the case with PSU's and ofc a corrupt LIC employee took a small cut in order for my father to receive that payment and get it approved.

Highly inefficient are the only words for such PSU's. Same is the case nowdays with even some few private companies but big one's like hdfc, icici and previously yesbank where they know they can treat customer like shit coz tomorrow if their company fails, govt will come to rescue like they did to yesbank on the behest of taxpayers money. Govt should not treat private companies like govt companies, and get govt companies to work efficiently, which we have all seen in the past never happens so privatization is the only way.

Is privatization perfect? No. But the right balance is needed, and every alternate decade govt needs to support priv companies and then the psu's to make sure no company or employee take their job/service for granted.

All the towers of bsnl are given to jio and bsnl is taking last breadth...this is crony capitalism
I don't know how many towers are given. But definitely this has helped BSNL users too, in rural part where I come from, earlier they used to go off whenever there is power cut or heavy rains. Now that Jio is sharing the resouce, BSNL network is also available during monsoons and power cut. We have been using BSNL for more than decade and know the pain, and ported some to Airtel/Jio.

And I think it would be best if we keep the thread limited to Recharge plans than venting our political ideologies. Whatever is the reason, we won't get service unless we pay. Before Jio or after Jio.

I would think even with the recent price increase, our cellphone tarriffs may still be one of the cheapest on the planet.

I also find it funny that many of us (including me buy expensive phones) but check all the recharge plans carefully to see where we get the best possible value.

Otoh, some folks here who are in mid to latw 40s like I am, May concur that it was more fun to have a simple Nokia phone without internet in year 2000 than it's with a 1.5L phone today. My parents had a Siemens phone in 1999 which was more like a large cordless phone, about 1/2 kg in weight and used to take Sim card (yes, sim card, not just sim) with a battery backup of almost a day and peak calling rate of 16.80 per minute

BSNL still has best network in tier III and rural areas. Vi has very good network in most Tier I & II but bad presence in tier III & rural. Govt is majority share holder for both BSNL and Vi. If they share network, it would create best value for customers, with BSNL users using VI 4G network in Tier I & II and Vi users using BSNL 2G/3G network in tier III & rural. But that would hamper the business interest of certain prominent rival. So it never happens.

Few days ago Jio removed Rs 249 plan
Now It has moved the 799 Plan to the 'Value' section...

Now we know that other Value Plans are not available for recharge anywhere else online apart from myjio app....Does this mean...View attachment 107550
Indirectly Jio is pushing people to work more hard and earn more money to spned more on telecom. They can't provide cushion to people anymore from their own pocket.

The 5L+ crore debt won't be cleared by keeping recharge at 150-175/month. People should be thankful that they still offering 189 plan. As per my own view they should make min. recharge to 239.

As per my personal view, if you are 18-20+ of age and can't even support yourself for a Rs.250 recharge per month, trust me, you are destinedtto be doomed.

During my sub-20 age, I was working and supporting myself and recharge used to cost Rs.350-500 a month for service I needed. This generation should be thankful that they first saw a free time followed by very cheap 5-8 years and even now prices for services aren't much. But people think by crying louder they can bash telecom companies for taking their rightful money.

P.S: Post is in general and not a reply to you personally.

Yeah you are right... The situation is still better than rationing 1 gb for an entire month

The problem is of their service. I have been a Jio user ever since they launched and honestly their support sucks. My last recharge was the 365 days plan (3599 recharge) which I took in June 2024. In December 2024, Jio dismantled a few towers in my area and data services literally went dead. The bars on the network are literally on the lowest bar, their data does not work and if it does work, it works in patches of 5-10 minutes. Now, when I took this to Jio customer care, they refused to admit the issue for almost 2 months. As I am a daily user since they launched, I literally know the difference, and they kept saying there is no issue. Finally after 2 months, they admitted that a few towers have been removed in the area. When I asked how they intend to improve network, I was given a generic reply that they keep reviewing their Network from time to time and will take action accordingly. So from Dec24 to June 25, for 6 months of the 1 year that I paid (3599 plan) I could not use their data. When I asked them to cancel my plan and refund the rest, they said since it's mobile data ( I use it on the jio fi M2 dongle) they cannot refund since I can take the device to a location that has better network and use it there. So, they want me to shift my house / work just to get decent internet connection that I have ready paid for.
As on today, ie, Aug'25, the connection is still the same. No improvement. I have written atleast 20 + emails right upto Jio appellate, even but same canned response. Tickets are closed without replying after few days with canned sms reply and no one contacts you to see if the problem is resolved.
So, if Jio wants to increase prices, they should provide network, service and support as well!!

It’s not that we can’t afford it, but why spend more if we don’t even use that much data? Many of us have WiFi at home and use dual SIMs, so keeping call-only plans on BSNL or Jio makes more sense. Of course, sometimes BSNL internet isn’t reliable, but still, for practical usage, smaller packs were way better. Per day-GB plans are just a waste we end up paying for data even if we don’t use it. Honestly, those 6GB for 3 months packs should have stayed they were perfect for light users like us.

Jio is the worst in the lot out there. But sadly we don't have a choice due to their aparent proximity to policy makers.

More interesting part is people including govt. will come and defend jio everywhere as if they are under the payroll of jio.

In my area, VI 2G having better network speed than jio 4G.

Earlier they used to offer better service if someone upload proof that they work in the government offices. Later someone work in jio told that jio used to track some of those numbers to understand the loopholes in govt contracts, policies, future plans etc. Those people under the loop used to believe that they are being treated like 1st class citizen. They didn't realise that they are unknowingly become part of corruption without payment.

Note: I am typing this using jio data plan and network. But I hate them. Their masters are super government.
