Millennia Convert Your HDFC Millennia Credit Card to Rupay Network by just a phone call

2025

TF Legend
Hi Friends,

Inspired by @prateekm03 and his post here https://www.technofino.in/community/profile-posts/10003/ today, I have called HDFC customer care (📞 1800 1600) and successfully raised a request for conversion of my Mastercard Millennia Credit Card to Rupay Millennia Credit Card. No questions will be asked. Take max. 5 minutes.

This is what I was informed by the phone banking executive.
1. All features and benefits will remain same.
2. LTF cards will remain LTF.
3. Request will be processed in maximum 10 days.
4. Rewards points/ cashback (accrued and upcoming) will be transferred to the new card.
5. Running balance Statement will also be transferred.
6. Card will be delivered to my address and the old card will be deactivated.

Things that I did not asked, but expecting...
1. It will work on UPI and give benefits of 5% at preferred merchants and 1% in other eligible cases. Will update later.

Why I did this?
1. India first. Reducing the fund outflow from India, particularly to arrogant US.
2. Rupay hai toh jindegi hai.
3. Easy to use UPI cards using scan and pay features. Plus 1% upto 1000 cashback monthly.
4. My TNI card only giving 0.5% outside the TNI app. So a better choice.
5. Automatically extended the validity of the card.
6. Some secret hacks. Won't disclose even in DM.
7. I have never got any limit upgrade from HDFC so hoping this change will bring something new for me.
8. Additionally, this card has milestone benefits 1k for quarterly 1L spends. So, yes 2.0% UPI achievable.

Updates:
1. Received the confirmation about raising the request immediately.
2. Card generated on next working day (11-Aug-2025) evening around 7:30 pm.
Balance transferred.
3. Add on applied on 12-Aug, generated same day.
4. Primary card received on 14-Aug. Added to upi app.

Just simple call or email to regular customer support enough sir for network conversion.
No need to go nodal for this simple issue
In the past few days, they have started accepting such requests through phone calls. Around three months ago, I had also called to request a network change for my credit card, but customer care told me at that time that they did not have any such option available.

The second point is that this is not a normal card conversion — as per RBI guidelines, every customer should be given the option to change the card network at the time of renewal. While banks claim they follow this rule, in reality they generally don’t provide the option.

That’s why I had to file a complaint with the nodal officer. If things hadn’t worked out at this stage, I was prepared to directly escalate the matter to the RBI. But fortunately, this time they agreed without much resistance.

Even after placing a request over a call, it usually takes a few days to process, and the response comes via email. However, there is no 100% guarantee that every card network change request will be approved. Still, at the time of renewal, you do have the opportunity — and in my opinion, it’s one you shouldn’t miss.

This card was launched very recently.
10days back i sent a mail to regular customer support and card showed up in mycards portal in just 2 days

Called this number 1800 266 3310, asked to convert my existing Millennia to Rupay, The customer service woman confirmed that it's possible , She hold my call for 3 minutes and took the request.
And instantly I received the email, Let's see how many days they took to approve the request and dispatch the card.

And special thanks to this informative and useful thread 😍

Wow lot of Visa/MC to RuPay conversions. Wish I too could post a thread like this, but my SB TF card is already on RuPay.

Modi ji hasn’t put any condition that if you have one RuPay card, you can’t get another RuPay card.
Apply for as many RuPay cards as you want.

Was reading this thread at 2am called hdfc and got my request registered in under 5 mins. Will activating this reissued millennia Rupay affect me in applying for a new hdfc cc? As in will I have to wait for another 3 months to apply for a new card?
