Axis Bank sending notice for clarification regarding customer's travel spends on atlas

Axis Bank today sent notices to many of its Atlas credit card customers requesting clarification and invoices regarding their "travel category spends". Axis Atlas is a travel-focused credit card, so it's surprising that the bank is asking for invoices and clarification for travel category expenses over the past few months. A few days ago, Axis Bank deducted Edge Miles and Edge Reward Points from some customers' reward accounts, citing business transactions. Now, they are requesting clarification on affected customers' travel spends within the next 30 days, otherwise, the bank will cancel their credit cards.

Here, I'm attaching a copy of the notice email:

Many genuine Atlas customers have been affected by this move. Some people just spent under 10k on travel categories and received clarification notices. I can understand Axis's desire to eliminate abusers from their customer list, but troubling genuine customers is unacceptable. This is the main reason I didn't add the Axis Magnus Burgundy credit card/Axis Magnus credit card to our list of the best credit cards for 2024. While it may offer good rewards, it's not reliable at all. Axis should revert to their old credit card reward system as they are not capable of running a reward system with airmiles transfer partners.
For peace of mind, stay away from Axis Bank credit cards.
 
1. They asked Travel invoices, I sent them three 10k plus transaction invoice of Paytm reflecting as travel in statement

2. They ask me to send travel invoices for last 30 days. I checked that and these transactions were on vistara and cleartrip.

3. Sent them those invoice, in that link as well as replied to the mail and also to PNO.

4. I get a reply that "Cleartrip Goa Wale file mei kuch dikhayi nahi de raha, blank hai, send again"

Lol, I send them two cleartrip Goa wali receipts for both leg of journey, ek mei dikh rha ek mei nhi dikh rha. BC, 30K ke travel expense ke liye chakbodi kar rahe
Thanks for sharing. This clearly shows they have gone mad and have hired a detective agency to harass even genuine customers!! 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Please do keep us updated on the next steps. My Atlas is also blocked along with Magnus ERs. I've asked for clarifications. Your experience will be a good guide too many of us on how this is progressing. i'll also share my experience once i send in the details after they clarify. Thanks.

Does this mean that in their email they mentioned only " Travel Category" and when you have submitted invoices now they are asking for invoices for "Airlines" and "Hotel" category as well??

I had already shared the invoices/receipts of all the TRAVEL, AIRLINES & HOTEL mcc merchant through the given link. This was more of an update/acknowledgment from their end.

I think that Axis has under-estimated the benefit that Axis should pass on to their Atlas customers. They have bungled up their figures while planning this product.

When the time has to pay, they are in a deep pit (I wanted to use another apt word....).

Some pea brainee must have come up with this stupid harakiri.
Probably, he will fail n lose his job, like that original idiot.

No dude ! I guess its an acknowledgment mail and they're just informing the reason and the merchants names for the account suspension. I have no idea what they mean by "we have already created an interaction internal regarding edge reward account and the same will be processed in 05 working days."

I think it means they have forwarded to their internal team for review and will get back to you in 5 working days.

I have axis salary account and even though I don't have any prem cards from them, it scares me.

What if these guys freeze my account and I am unable to use it in emergency ?
What if in future if I take a locker from them and if they ask invoices of those things put in locker which were bought years ago?

Slowly this is making me also to consider an exit from them.

Basically it is a shameless bank in ill treating it's customers..pathetic is a very light word to describe these guys

The solution:
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Spread them..

Maintain atleast 3 main accounts in India..
