IDFC First Select Credit Card – Reward Points Calculation Challenge! 💳🧠

NithinK

TF Buzz
This is my first post in the Technofino community.

I recently got the IDFC First Select Credit Card, and my first statement was generated yesterday. But I’m completely confused by the way reward points have been calculated by IDFC for the spends I made in this month.

Here’s what I’ve done:
  • I’ve attached a cropped copy of my statement (with transaction names struck off for privacy) that shows all the transactions and the total reward points credited by IDFC.
  • I also opted for their Digital RuPay Credit Card, for which I was charged ₹199 + GST. I made 6 transactions using that card too – those are listed separately in the same statement.
Despite trying to decode the calculation, I can’t find any logic that matches their final reward points total.

So here’s the challenge:
👉 If anyone can correctly figure out how the reward points have been calculated, and explain it clearly – you win a ₹200 Amazon Gift Card from me!
(Assuming this kind of challenge is allowed under community rules.)

Let’s see if someone can crack the IDFC reward points mystery. 😅

Thanks in advance.

There could be a chance IDFC calculed.your txns wrong.

I had done a few txns but didn't get right amt of rewards. I called them they've raised a request to get the points credited.

Thanks you @hellowo₹ld for the detailed breakdown! 🙌
Your calculation perfectly matches the reward points shown in my statement — mystery solved!

I do have one small doubt though. As per the IDFC website, it says:
"10X Reward Points on incremental spends above ₹20,000 per statement cycle."
Just to confirm — this means the total cumulative spend in a statement exceeding 20k qualifies for 10X rewards, right?
It’s not that only those single transaction/s above 20k gets 10X, correct?

Also, I used my IDFC card on Flipkart recently because there was some special offers for IDFC during the sale. Otherwise, I use my Flipkart Axis Card.

Regarding the DKMUL transactions (which I suspect fall under the Govt category now), is there any credit or debit card that gives decent rewards for such spends? I currently use OneCard and RBL Signature Debit Card, both offering 1% returns, but they come with monthly cashback caps.

Lastly, could you please DM me your email ID so I can send over the ₹200 Amazon Gift Voucher as promised?

Thanks again! 😊

depends on other cards, if none.. check milestone cards + your debit 1% works for any card.

check the mcc on idfc app txn page.
Thanks again! 😊

no need, happy to help..

Btw you can check mcc of the merchant in the app to be sure under which category the txn was done. If you don't know...

you paid 36k to dkmul....for buying milk?
My family has a Nandini Dealership Store, and we can make payments to DKMUL using a credit card🙂

@hellowo₹ld & @theflash thanks to you guys - I checked MCC using IDFC Mobile app and found that DKMUL is marked as a Government Transaction with MCC 9399.
I’ll read that Milestone Cards post you shared and will ask here if I have any doubts.
