So, I had taken the Scapia Credit Card when they first launched.
Back then, the offers weren’t very exciting, and I wasn’t able to make much use of the card. So after a few months of low usage, I decided to close it.
Now, they’ve revamped their rewards and offers — and I must say, it looks much more attractive. Naturally, I thought I’d reapply.
But to my surprise, they aren’t allowing it.
I checked with their support and was told that once you close your Scapia account, you can never reapply again — apparently, it’s their internal policy.
I’ve seen other banks (like Axis, ICICI, etc.) allow reapplications after 90–180 days of closure, so this came as a shock.
I’m not sure if this violates any RBI guideline — since banks should ideally allow fresh applications after some cooldown period.
So here are my questions:
→ Has anyone else faced this situation with Scapia (or any other bank)?
→ Is there any RBI rule that mandates they must allow reapplication or explain the reason for rejection?
→ What are my options now? Should I escalate this further or just move on?
Would appreciate any insights or experiences others might have!
