I had recently applied for the SBI Cash Back credit card via SBI Sprint. At the time of application I had done online Aadhar authentication and submitted my ITR and 6-months HDFC Imperia bank statement.
I already hold many high end cards like Magnus Burgundy / Infinia Metal / Amex Plat Travel / HDFC Biz Black / Axis Atlas / ICICI Times black etc with total limit of 70L+ but utilisation under 5% and have a cibil score of 824
Two days later I got a call from a third-party agency that claimed to be the backend agency for SBI cc application verification saying the pdf downloaded bank statement that I had submitted was not acceptable and that I would have to submit the same directly from my bank by logging into my netbanking on "SBI's portal". The link for this was sent in an email titled "Data capture with reference to SBI Card application"
They also sent me another email titled "Account Aggregator Consent" with a link which took me to a portal called Anumati seeking "Explicit consent for monitoring of the account and related data like deposits, profile, transactions & summary" from Nov 2024 till May 2030.
All this seemed very suspicious to me as no other bank has ever asked for anything like this durint their CC application process. Why would i want to give SBI access to my accounts with other banks?? So, I refused to give any of the above access to them. Told her to send an executive for verification of any of the documents if required.
She told me this is the standard procedure and if do not give access, the application will get rejected.
Also, i must mention that currently I do not have any banking relationship with SBI but about 10 years back I did hold an SBI Prime credit card with limit of 1L which I had closed within 1yr of issuance as I got tired of repeated scam calls.
Is this the standard process for SBI?
