Rs. 1 Crore in Credit Card Reward Points: How Much Can You Earn?

Recently, I posted a video on the TechnoFino YouTube channel where I shared how I’ve earned over ₹1 crore worth of credit card reward points in the last few years.
Yes, you read that right - ₹1 crore worth of rewards, purely through smart and disciplined use of credit cards.

Credit cards are an amazing financial tool if used responsibly. They can help you save money, earn travel benefits, and enjoy exclusive perks. But if you want to maximize your reward points, you need to follow a few golden rules:

1. Choose Your Credit Card Wisely
Everyone’s spending habits are different. Some people spend more on shopping, some on travel, some on insurance, and so on. Don’t blindly follow others - choose a card that matches your lifestyle and spending pattern. That’s the key to earning meaningful rewards.

2. Use Credit Cards Smartly

Always find ways to maximize your reward earning potential.
For example, if you're planning to buy something from Amazon, instead of directly using your card, buy an Amazon gift voucher through your card issuer’s accelerated rewards portal. Then use that voucher on Amazon. This simple trick can earn you significantly more reward points than a regular transaction.

3. Consider Premium or Super-Premium Credit Cards

If your monthly spending is high, don’t be afraid to go for premium or super-premium cards. Yes, they come with higher annual fees, but the benefits, reward rates, and milestones often outweigh the cost. Do the math - it might just be worth it.

4. Spending Power Matters

Let’s be honest - you can’t earn a massive amount of reward points without significant spending. Smart usage is important, but to collect lakhs or crores worth of points or air miles, you need to use your cards consistently over time with high-value transactions. Be patient - your rewards will grow as your spending power does.

5. Never Ever Overspend

This is the most important rule.
Only spend on what you truly need. Never buy something just to earn extra reward points or to hit a milestone. That’s a trap—and it can ruin you financially. Rewards are great, but not at the cost of debt or poor money decisions. Be disciplined and cautious.

I’ve also compiled a detailed list of all the credit cards I’ve used over the last 4–5 years and the approximate value of the reward points I earned with each. Together, they add up to over ₹1 crore in value.
