Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with HDFC Bank regarding their Swiggy Credit Card and get your opinions on whether I should proceed with this card or push further.
Would really appreciate your insights and suggestions! 🙏
Thanks in advance.
I wanted to share my experience with HDFC Bank regarding their Swiggy Credit Card and get your opinions on whether I should proceed with this card or push further.
Quick Summary:
- Back in Sept 2024, I inquired about getting the Swiggy HDFC Credit Card as a floater (shared limit) under my existing HDFC credit card account. Initially, I was told it's not possible.
- Later, a colleague of mine got the same card as a floater, so I applied in Nov 2024. That application was declined after the bank conducted a wrong name verification at my workplace.
- I escalated the issue to Grievance Redressal, Branch, and even the Principal Nodal Officer, but got no helpful response.
- I followed instructions and submitted a manual floater form at my branch in March 2025, which was again rejected citing “you already hold a credit card” — even though they had advised me to apply as floater.
- A third application was opened on my name without my consent or OTP in April 2025, and credit bureau inquiries were made on CIBIL and CRIF.
- I finally filed a formal complaint with the RBI Ombudsman in late JUNE.
What Happened Next:
- Without giving any explanation, HDFC sent me the Swiggy Credit Card to my address in July, after my RBI complaint.
- No email, no call, no response from the bank regarding the status of my RBI grievance.
- I received the card, but I have not activated it yet.
My Questions to You:
- Should I activate this card?
- The card is not marked LTF (Life-Time Free) – Can I negotiate with the bank now to make it LTF?
- If yes, how should I approach this negotiation? Any contact or escalation route that worked for you?
- Also, is there a way to ensure they remove the unauthorized credit inquiry from my CIBIL/CRIF?
A Few Notes:
- I already hold 2 HDFC credit cards. (Both LTF)
- This process has taken over 8 months and involved multiple back-and-forths.
Would really appreciate your insights and suggestions! 🙏
Thanks in advance.
