I needed an HDFC credit card primarily for sale discounts. I found that applying for the Tata Neu card through their app was the easiest way to get one - it was approved instantly without any verification. I used it as a UPI-enabled card, and it served me well initially.
However, during a festival sale, I tried purchasing a phone expecting a discount, only to find out that only core HDFC cards were eligible for such offers. When I tried applying for a core card, I got the message: "You already have a credit card with us."
With no other option, I decided to close the Tata Neu credit card ( Suggested by some TechnoFinian. Probably @SSV ) even after achieving the milestone for the fee waiver and opened an HDFC savings account, keeping a good balance in it. About 5 - 6 months later, I started receiving LTF (Lifetime Free) credit card offers from HDFC. But when I applied, I found they were actually paid cards. Over 2 months, I made around 8-10 CIBIL inquiries chasing these misleading "LTF" offers.
Now, eight months later, I received a call from an HDFC representative informing me of a pre-approved credit card offer. Initially, I wasn’t interested since he mentioned co-branded cards. But when I checked the HDFC app myself, I saw that the Millennia card was available for me: pre-approved, most importantly.Lifetime Free, and even came with a ₹1500 Amazon voucher!
Though I could have applied directly, I chose to go through the representative out of courtesy, as he mentioned he had targets to meet. I used his reference code and completed the application. It was approved within 3 days, and now I’m just waiting for the card to be delivered.
I’m genuinely happy with this offer—the only downside is that I might not receive the ₹1500 Amazon voucher since I applied through a representative instead of directly through the app.
