Are you sure Atlas gives any rewards for tax payment?
I have Airtel Axis and it gave 1% cashback. I used HDFC payment gateway (charged 0.80% additional fee).

This 1% is unlimited for tax, right ?

I have following cards but after reading the post i guess none of them provides any rewards anymore for paying advance tax. If anyone knows better then please let me know.

It's fine to use any person's cc for your payment. Just keep records of all transactions. I did for family members, it's fine to shift money inside family but I don't know if you're trying to use friend's cc then IT might raise some issue in case they suspect something

Nothing like that. Just want to pay 40k in advance tax to get annual fee waiver on my wife's card. So a small amount as 40k is required to reach the waiver.

6X rewards - approx 1.2% for the amount paid. The points were posted within 2 days or so.

As far as I know, none of the Axis credit cards give reward points for income tax payments.

Does anyone know whether Income tax payment (Self assessment or Advance tax) can be made through credit cards?

Income tax website lists it is available as option under PG https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/help/make-payment-online-faq but last time when I paid, it is accepting only Netbanking or Debit cards only?

Has anyone has experience paying it through credit cards?

You can make payment using CC I made last time assessment.
