how to convert my HSBC Platinum Credit Card to the HSBC Live+ Credit Card

I recently joined the HSBC credit card ecosystem with the HSBC Platinum Credit Card (issued in May 2025). While I’m still exploring its features, rewards, and overall experience, I’m now thinking about upgrading to the HSBC Live+ Credit Card—primarily to maximize benefits on a big-ticket purchase (Amazon voucher in mind 💡).

I already hold the SBI Cashback card, but its Amazon spend cap of ₹15,000/month limits Maximize. I also tried applying for Kiwi, but no luck there. Since I’m already on the Platinum, the upgrade to Live+ feels like the next logical step.

Would love to hear from anyone with first-hand experience:

• How smooth is the upgrade process from HSBC Platinum to Live+?
• Any caveats—charges, forfeited rewards, or approval wait times—I should be aware of?
• What’s been your overall take on the HSBC ecosystem, especially around support and product flexibility?

Has anyone here actually made the switch successfully?

You can you use the Platinum card for some time and then call the customer service and request them to flip the card to HSBC Live + , this will be done over the phone...Many have have flipped thier cards, It's just a task to get onboard the HSBC ecosystem but once you are here things are not that difficult

1 - Upgrade is smooth just call customer care and ask them to flip your platinum card to Live ➕
2 - Generally approve in 17 days & will be free for first year once upgraded then 999 +gst from second year onwards
3 - Customer support is pathetic

That's a referral link. Carryout a small purchase of AFC and ask hsbc via chat for mcc. It is ineligible.

AFAIK, the mcc is 5399

I have tried flipping my CC just after one month; but CS asked me to wait for 6 months to flip/upgrade Platinum to Live+

They can show whatever they want, ultimately it depends on the mcc tagged, which isn't going to be tagged within the inclusions.

That's how credit card reward system works for majority of the banks.
