Guidance Needed: RBI Complaint Closed Regarding Credit Card Rejection

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking some help and guidance from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

I had applied for a credit card which was declined without any clear reason. I contacted the bank’s nodal officer via email but received no response. Eventually, I filed a complaint with the RBI.

However, the complaint was closed by RBI with the following response:

"The complaint has been examined and it is observed that relief sought is related to commercial judgment/ decision of the Regulated Entity (RE) as per their Board approved policy. As reported by the bank the credit card application of the complainant was rejected due to non-fulfillment of the bank’s credit norm. The matter has been reviewed and it has been observed that issuance/ non-issuance of credit card being a commercial decision of the bank, RBI has no mandate to intervene in their commercial matters/ Board approved policies. Accordingly, the complaint is treated as dealt with. The customer may, in her/his own interest, like to approach any other appropriate authorities for further action, if any."
If anyone here has filed a similar complaint and had a different outcome, or if you could share the format or grounds you used in your complaint, I would really appreciate it. I’d like to understand what may have gone wrong on my part and how to approach such cases more effectively. I Have attached PNO's reply after filling RBI Complaint.

Thanks in advance for your help!
