Two of my friends just got into their first jobs in state government (not PSU). No credit history. Salary credited (during probation) - 35k. Salary account at SBI.

Which CC (unsecured) would you recommend to them?

I suggested the following, but them being new, they don't know how to proceed. I can help them wherever I can. I want them to have a good credit limit.

1. HDFC Millenia/Cashback
2. ICICI Amazon Pay - not accepting new applications
3. SBI LTF possible?
4. Axis Neo/My zone
5. Which other LTF cards to get?

Try in SBI Cards. LTF definitely not possible but that seems to be their best way to build a credit history. Maybe they could also open an account in HDFC?

Pincode is the most important thing

Thank you.

SBI, HDFC, ICICI, PNB, Axis - all of these work. Only LTF.

Which particular cards, and how to apply?
In bank branch
They will find agent or even at station.
Tell them to apply for BPCL rupay .( Don't expect rewards ) At 50k it would be as good as ltf .
Via UPI one can use 50k in a year as starting.
Later after 1-2 year u can make it ltf
There is a thread here

Next tell them to open saving Max account at hdfc & use it for saving & spends
Request branch for millniea dc ( initially they will get esyshop dc. ( All dc are free) In 3-6 month they will get cc pre approved

For axis - there is not a good axis card to suggest
But one can apply myzone ltf via agent .

Icici - apply apay without any cibil or cc ( if u lucky they will approve) or Go with 50k fd ..

If these fails - I would suggest them to do 1-.15 lakh fd for 6+ month & get fd icici card
Then cibil will generate and any card u apply will have 80-90 % OR YOUR EXISTING CARD MOSTLY .
AND IN 6 MONTH THEY WILL HAVE apay card which is one of best cashback card for all round spends

SBI SimplyClick, try offline.

It's good to take SBI card at the beginning, later they will rarely give new cards saying over leverage 😂

Since they have salary account with SBI it's best to apply SBI Card.

I would recommend SBI Cashback Card minimum eligibility is ₹20000 monthly salary.
I'd love that card for myself (pin code not eligible). But I can't suggest a paid CC to a newbie, especially if they won't be using the cc much.

Search amazon icici cc on Amazon app u will get the link to apply .
But even if we get the invite, will they approve Apay for a person with no cibil score ??(i myself in similar situation, govt employee with no credit history and from a tier 3/4 town. )

Yes their approval is like
1 - either newbie
2 - after 1 year is completed on your active cc on cibil

Pre approved is different scenario

If u are rejection
Then my suggestion would be to make 1-1.5 lakh fd & get fd cc
Then u will get all cc with 1+ lakh limit

Else u will get 30-50k limit on other card then wait for l.e or manual.l.e
