Existing Customer Struggling to Open a Savings Account in Axis Bank

In 2018, I opened a zero-balance account in Axis Bank online but didn't complete the video KYC. After a year, the account was blocked.

Last year, I visited an Axis Bank branch to open a new account. The bank employee tried multiple times to open a savings account through the online process, but after Aadhaar verification, it showed I was an existing customer. Since the online process didn't work, he suggested a current account, assuring me there were no charges, just a ₹7,500 minimum balance requirement. I agreed and completed the video KYC.

After a month, ₹250 + GST started getting deducted every month. I stopped using the account, and now the balance is -₹5,646.

I want to close this current account but still open a savings account in Axis Bank. Does anyone know the process for existing customers? Please help.

Close your existing current account. I think you are unable to open a new savings account due to existing customer ID. Ask the bank employee to open new savings account with new customer ID. Whenever you try to apply a credit card in future, ask them to apply via new customer ID.

Close your existing current account. I think you are unable to open a new savings account due to existing customer ID. Ask the bank employee to open new savings account with new customer ID. Whenever you try to apply a credit card in future, ask them to apply via new customer ID.

I already have 2 credit cards in axis bank.

Then if you have the account number, visit the branch and submit an application to activate the account, then you can convert the account or you can simply close the account.

I also had an account with axis, it was a bsbd account which I closed from the axis app so i was not able to open any account online, but when I applied for a credit card, during the physical kyc the agent opened a libarty account on the spot and I completed the video kyc after that. Till now I don't have to visit for the account, recieved welcome kit. But my credit card application was rejected later 😖
