Yes 999 + he told me that the premium will be 5% more compared to what it is on Icici/Paisabazaar.
Curious to know what is so dire need to buy through him....Why so many people are approaching him.....Am i missing anything?

I saw his twitter handle...he is only sharing cut copy paste content from internet.

Seen many posts that agent is a must for health insurance. Can someone throw some light on this?
Agent doesn’t do anything. The hospital submits the claim, the insurance asks for information and any questions which are answered by the hospital or directly by you. The payment goes to the hospital directly. The agent has absolutely no role. Just yesterday, I got a claim of 12 lakhs from Tata AIG. I purchased it directly from them. They had a lot of queries and the hospital handled them with my assistance.

In my family, there are couple of minor surgeries and we never faced any issue....Policy is online only....For one, non-network hospital, insurance company shared list of documents...We submitted all the documents and claim was cleared within 1 week.

Just for their commission, Agents have unnecessary created bhookal and fear that without them, claim will not be cleared
Completely correct. Agents have zero influence on claim settlement.

You are absolutely wrong with the last sentence. In health insurance, a reputed agent/broker is going to be our go-to person for any claim disputes. I have first hand experience in it and i always rely on my broker when it comes to taking amd renewing health insurance.
Again, key here is the agent/broker should be from a reputed agency.
Agents have zero influence over any insurance company. The claim is settled or rejected by the company based upon documents submitted. The hospital has a TPA insurance desk that handles everything. The insurance company has questions and the hospital answers them or asks you to provide the information. The most an agent can do is advise you regarding the process. Just yesterday, my claim for 12 lakhs was settled by TATA AIG. No agent as involved. The insurance many questions and asked for several documents which were provided by the hospital or myself as needed. Claim was settled in 2 days. I paid a deposit of 10 lakhs via credit card and it was refunded to my account by the hospital. Was able to meet Amex milestone as well as earn rewards via Infinia.

If you buy through agent, you are paying 10% to 15% additional premium i.e. agents commission is charged from you...Renewal can be done online within 5 mins. Not a big deal

If you think agent can help u in claim settlement then you are grossly mistaken...Call the customer care of your health insurance and ask them
1. Whether to buy online or through agent
2. Whether agent can help in claim settlement process

You will get answer to your queries.

What do you think about insurance advisor like Ditto, Beshak, and paisabaar, etc, and what role do they play during claims? @sunit123

Imsurance advisor always suggest product where they get max commission...they damn care about customer requirement. Why to pay xtra premium which is already huge.

I dont believe in any middlemen. I study myself and cross check with insurance providers. they always suggest to buy directly online and always confirmed that agents have no role to play except taking commission

Besides health, once i claimed car insurance without any hassle from hdfc ergo...it was also online policy and claim was processed without any middlemen

I heard Ditto will fight for your claims when something goes wrong. I have read several incidents on Indian investment sub reddit about this
Beware of PAID PR & publicity...If claim is NOT ELIGIBLE even GOD cannot change Insurance companies decision...Only IRDA can reverse the decision of insurance company.....Claims are decided by underwriters & doctors on the panel of insurance companies not by agents.

I agree. I meant to say Ditto helps for fighting with IRDAI/insurance companies if something is covered and still claim rejected. Though they recommend only HDFC Ergo and Care plans. So, I didn't buy through them
