Hi everyone
When I checked my axis Bank app now, I just see that a newly issued Indian oil rupay card is showing in the app . I didn't apply/upgrade for any Indian oil card or gives any consent for the same. Then how axis issued the card without my consent and knowledge??? Really shocking & unbelievable!!!! It's my first time issue from axis. How they are supposed to issue this card as I recently upgraded my airtel rupay card. Need your valuable suggestions whether to go with RBI or not???

Already sent mail to nodal yesterday. Should I sent mail to pno, so that nodal will close the case by stating that case is in progress with higher escalation. If sent mail to m.d level then pno will close it by stating the same. What to do?
You need to calm down first. You only sent the email yesterday, and banks usually take 2-3 working days to respond. You still have time, the RBI Ombudsman is unlikely to accept your case right now, since Axis Bank would not dismiss it without attempting a resolution so soon. Moreover, your complaint would be considered non-maintainable because 30 days have not yet passed since your initial submission.

For now, continue escalating the matter within Axis until your issue is resolved or the 30-day period is complete or Axis decides to dismiss your case without providing proper resolution.

Ok but it's a serious issue. The joining fee also charged .

For now you have to wait for nodal desk response, ask what you want regarding your issue and you should get compensation as no proofs of application consent, card activation, joining fee charged.

Just ask for the proof of application with your consent.

In my opinion don't receive card and ask for explanation.as the card details showing in app without unboxing/activating.

You can raise issue directly with RBIO if nodal response unsatisfactory. Its not compulsory to mail pno, md after NO . It's your choice if you want go through all grievance steps or not.

Yes, RBI ombudsman accept call recordings as evidence but same should in full uncut version and documente your conversation step by step in complaint with time stamp for better unders
tanding.

@sovon Thannk god, I have 3 axes cards. Hope they gave me any 4th card😆

Jokes apart, for your case @mailmenow Kindly take CIBIL subscription (if not) and check if there's any enquiry done for this application or not.

Secondly, daily monitor it. Lastly, reject the card delivery, escalate directly to PNO, asking how this fiasco happened and show proof of consent. Either the agent/agency through which card has been applied should be penalized or blacklisted. If not done so, raise issue with RBIO.

Remember first u need to escalate the issue with bank, make a stronger case of negligence or theft of privacy and then file compensation. Don't hurry. Good luck
I got the 4 th card
2 weeks ago ago I applied for airtel axis from pre approved section
Yesterday I received a message that my Airtel axis card has been approved (with application number)
I thought it is a glitch but they have charged the joining fees also

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing this email with deep concern and disappointment regarding the fraudulent and unauthorized issuance of a credit card in my name, which has caused me mental harassment and serious reputational/financial risk.

Today, while checking my Axis Mobile App, I was shocked to find a newly issued Indian Oil RuPay Credit Card (last 4 digits: 4321) linked to my profile and I received a text message today by stating that "Your indian oil axis Bank credit card application ref no.09876543 has been approved ".

I place on record the following facts for your immediate attention:

1. I have never applied for this Indian Oil RuPay credit card.

2. I have not requested any upgrade, and I am not eligible for any upgrade, since I had already upgraded my Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card (Mastercard variant) to RuPay on 1st August 2025. As per Axis Bank’s own rules, a minimum of 90 days must pass after a new issuance/upgrade before another card can be applied or upgraded. Despite this, a new card has been fraudulently issued in my name.

3. The issuance has happened without my knowledge, consent, or OTP authentication, which constitutes a serious breach of trust, violation of RBI’s Fair Practices Code, and deficiency in service.

This is not just a technical lapse – it amounts to misuse of my personal details, unauthorized financial activity, and a direct threat to my creditworthiness. Any reporting of this unauthorized card to CIBIL or other bureaus will cause irreversible damage to my credit score and future borrowing ability.

My Urgent demands from Axis Bank:

1). Immediate Cancellation(closure) & Non-Reporting:

*Cancel and permanently close the Indian Oil RuPay credit card ending with 4321 immediately.

*Ensure that this unauthorized card is not reported to CIBIL or any other credit bureau in any manner. Any such reporting will unfairly damage my CIBIL credit score.

2). Detailed Investigation & Accountability:

*Provide me with a full investigation report on how this application originated, including application source, device/IP, employee/agent involved, and how it was processed without OTP consent.

*Confirm whether my personal KYC details (full name, DOB, mobile number, email ID, residential address, father’s name, mother’s name) were used in this unauthorized application.

3). Written Assurance of No Liability:

*A written confirmation that I will not be held responsible for any charges, annual fees, penalties, or fraudulent transactions linked to this unauthorized card.

4). Compensation for Deficiency & Harassment:

I hereby demand a compensation of ₹99,000 for:

1)Gross deficiency in service and unauthorized issuance of a financial product.

2)Mental agony, stress, and harassment caused by this fraudulent activity.

3)The reputational and financial risk imposed on me due to possible misuse of my personal data.

Axis Bank’s failure to ensure basic safeguards in credit card issuance has caused me undue hardship and loss of peace of mind, for which the above compensation is both justified and reasonable.

If Axis Bank fails to resolve this matter immediately and compensate me adequately, I will be compelled to escalate this issue to the RBI Banking Ombudsman, Consumer Forum, and other regulatory authorities, along with supporting evidence.

I expect a positive response from your end.
Yours faithfully

You can upload recording through a word file on additional documents upload section and mention same in description of your complaint.

Share same with axis again when they follow your complaint after raising at RBIO.

Again if no consensus could be reached and axis response unsatisfactory your state RBI team will email you for your last comments / observations thereupon, share again.

Perfect
Pay joining fees if due date is nearby

That's why I concerned about it. But I think no issue. Because for Indian oil card the bill generation date will be on 12th of every month. So my first statement will get generated on 12th oct as it covers minimum 30days . So enough time is there. Please correct me if I am wrong
Pay only if due date is nearby otherwise ignore
It will take a long time
