Is there a way for setting autopayment of all the CC. Most of us have CC of multiple banks but don't have savings account in that bank.
Is there any feature in any bank or app where I can set up autopayment and it will fetch the bill and autopay itself.
Cred is a useful app but we have to pay the bill by ourself. It only gives a reminder.
And me being a lazy fellow - have forgotten payment a couple of times causing a downfall in my cibil.

So any help would be greatly appreciated. 👍

HDFC AutoPay is there but you need to open HDFC bank account for that.

I was looking for same. Main reason that if I die tomorrow, I want cards to get auto paid. There is good chances that family may not looks at cards immediately at least for 10-15 days. I don't want unnecessary charges and harassment for them.

Requirement- Check card bill 3-5 days before payment due date. Pay if not already paid.

Problem with HDFC netbanking auto pay is that it may even if bill is already paid. I don't want auto pay when I am alive.

Any idea?

And not spoil the CIBIL 😛🤣

I have been on the same thinking. With HDFC it is my first bill that got generated and I have already paid. I want to check if enabling Auto debit does not pay the bill twice.

Nahi hota. I have enabled Autopay. I pay bill before that fir cut nahi hota

For BBPS enabled cards, apart from HDFC, I'd recommend Slice. HDFC pays the bills appropriately 4 days prior to due date. Slice pays just a day prior to due date.

If your CC issuing bank supports NACH, then NACH gets triggered only if it is not paid on the scheduled due date that may be different from actual due date. The amount that you prepay will be deducted from the due. If the due is nil, auto-pay won't be triggered.

Example: OneCard supports NACH auto-pay via multiple dates (before the actual due date). Axis supports NACH auto-pay, but never used.

ICICI doesn't support NACH.

For others, please check with the card issuing banks for the support of NACH auto-pay.

I am not sure how auto-pay in BBPS works (whether it deducts the prepaid amount or not). Needs to test it out in the coming months. If anyone already tested it, please share the details. Thanks.

I have 33+ CCs and I avoid autopay like plague. Personally, I think whoever designed penalty on autopay failure was an utter UTTER b@#$rd, it's a bad faith system, hitting you with fee when you are down.

my process - has worked flawlessly. YMMV

1. All statements are forwarded to a gmail ID. Cred pulls statements from this ID. And to anyone worrying about privacy, your bank already shares that data with enteties far worse and shadier than Cred. Remember use a seperate gmail for statements.

2. As a failsafe I have google tasks to set repeating reminder. I have set two dates for my CCs 5th and 25th and I double check that dues are clear on these two dates with google tasks.

I even hate autopay for EMIs. You know what I hate autopay period.

Same here, I prefer to manage things manually, no matter what it is.

I've already read a few threads here where autopay failed to work, and the person only realised it after a month when they noticed absurd charges. It's good to see someone with the same thought.

Just a Trivia:

Autopay, Late and Penalty Fee were first abused (on a national scale) as revenue (and profit) by Providian in the mid 90s (US ofc) and they changed the CC industry forever. And guess what the mastermind was of Indian (Origin). When CCs got mainstream in the developing world they were infected by Providian virus. PBS has a whole documentary on this check it out. Their Ass got sued and they went bankrupt but they changed the Industry forever.

We should, however, feel lucky that Banks don't have a free reign in India or they would bankrupt the nation in less than 24 hours.

Same here, I pay all my cc dues on 3rd of every Month via CRED now. It works perfectly.

@tachniki exactly my thought, not only death. Lets say i am involved in an accident which renders me bed ridden/unconcious for few days(and cc bill payment date falls within) huge interest starts being charged. I was looking for a solution similar to upi autopay.

The workflow i had thought is as follows-

On the payment date(custom defined by me) i pay cc bills manually-> skip the autopay-> end

If on the payment date(custom defined by me) i dont disable autopay -> autopay gets triggered and cc bills are taken care of.

Did u actually find any solution to this?

for some reason gmail is unable to forward SBI statements... is anyone facing same problem ? whats the fix ?

I have added ALL our CC bills (except 2, which are not on BBPS) and other bills (electricity...) to HDFC's AutoPay feature in my SBMax SB account with HDFC Bank. For the last 3 years, they are fetching all those bills and paying them before 4 days of their respective due dates. So far, so good.

Only on 2 occasions, that auto feature failed n money debited came back. HDFC sends intimations of such rare failures (due to recieving bank's failures) about 3 days before the due dates n asks you to pay manually.

I use the same account/DC to pay such bills - so that all payments are in one place.

HDFC is good at doing this dirty work for me. And, I let them do it. Ha ha ha
