- No more "Free" Stay Nights, instead you get 2 x B1G1 "Free Stay Nights" where you book 2 nights, pay for 1 and get 1 free.
So now you need to be booking 2N minimum and paying for 1 of them to redeem FSN, no more sweet redemptions at fairmont singapore or some great asian resorts for 1N just to enjoy almost 10k INR or more value booking
- 30% Food discount (from existing 50%). This is a major nut-kick for frequent travelers to asia as 50% discount on all meals in your hotel/resort (even if you were not staying) so such a good benefit, I would even value this as half of the membership's worth.
- By default everyone will be in Gold status (30N) instead of Silver status (20N). Not sure what to make of it, if everyone is Gold by default, room upgrades are not gonna be available as much as they are now (which was already rather hit or miss).
Personally to me, the 50%->30% food discount hits me the hardest and then that FSN change. Just in recent Phuket trip and last year's Japan trip, I had enjoyed quite a bit of food discount with in-resort dining so loved it.
Although, the FSN change now opens you to be able to book any category of room and get the other night free, earlier FSN applied only to the base room category (standard). This change can be rather good for people looking to enjoy suites or higher category rooms. From hotel POV, I suppose they would also rather want people spending for 1 night atleast to get the benefit than it was earlier where people were pseudo-using it just to grab a room at as expensive hotel as possible.
