I rarely use miles for domestic flight. Krisflyer can be used to book Singapore Airline flights and international Air India flights to Europe(and may be US). I have used mainly for Europe trip in case Turkish doesn't work.
That is equivalent to Amazon gift pay. And we can use Amazon gift pay to book flights as well. What I have observed is Traveledge tends to have higher fare than MMT and other platforms.
Yeah looks like that. No Air India flights available. But that issue is going on in United as well. I think once that gets resolved Air India flight will be available.

Perhaps you are seeing it wrongly. I booked return Economy tickets(Air India tickets) for Europe(BLR to Frankfrut, Amsterdam to BLR) and total tax was around 8k.
I recently booked hotels in Europe using points in ibis(Germany), Pullman(Brussels), Novotel(Luxembourg) and Mercure(Amsterdam). Except Mercure, I was able to use points for paying taxes as well.
