i get totally blank calls arnd 3-4 times a week...no one speaks on the other hand...once i muted myself and the call went on for more than 6 mins till the opposite party hung up....am i on their radar???

You should not entertain call from unknown no. Best to cut the call within 10-15 sec.
Advanced hacker don't even need that much time.

This was probably done by someone who tampered with their phone and then knew roundabout the money she would he having in her account.

I also use 2 Sims. One just for bank/cc/investment etc. One for rest as I hardly do any personal calls.

Exactly many times branch officials are involved in this type of scams.

Long time back, one of our neighbors were robbed when they took out few lakhs cash to buy laptops & jewellery. Branch officials were involved.

It can be coincidance or maybe some sort of malware that is programed to be activated on that call.

May be it's call forwarding scam. Once you pick that call, call forwarding is enabled to another number

They install malware. Even 10 sec is a lot. Pegasus doesn't even need you to accept call. Just recieving blank message is enough. Which they can hide within seconds. So you won't even know when it happens.

No you have to dial "*44*phone no" to forward calls.

That is why I have asked in my prev post if the person handed over the phone to some stranger

One mobile is fine if it is secure. You need to few things.
1. Keep updated to latest security patch.
2. Keep apps updated
3. Check access you are giving all the apps. There are many apps which asks for access to call/msg. Unless you trust them fully don't give them these access. I am OK losing few hundreds or even thousands in cash back to keep my peace of mind.
4. Auto deep sleep apps you don't use regularly.
5. Try to use stand alone apps or a safe browser like duck duck go for any transaction. Avoid chrome.
6. Once in a while check if any app using more storage/net than they should.
7. Be wary of Chinese mobile/apps or china funded apps.

For some stupid reason hdfc netbanking doesn't work properly in duck duck go/samsung browser for me. So have to use chrome.

Just tell them not to share otp and pin.

To avoid random frauds, use apple/samsung or in worst case pixel. Keep them updated to lattest security patch. There is no escape from targeted fraud attempts.

There are so many steps to transfer money to another account when we login to ner banking or banking app-
1. Username and Password or mpin.
2. Add beneficiary with profile password and OTP.
3. Approval of the beneficiary.
4. Cool down period of 24 hours after adding beneficiary.
5. Transfer money with OTP authentication.

How can all these be bypassed?
Losing 10k or 20k by Quick transfer is understandable. But lakhs. How???

Actually truecaller is an untrustworthy app. It sends users data to China and save data in hk/Singapore(Even though its a "swedish" company). Only after multiple threats from govt., they are saving Data locally in india. You can never be sure they have stopped sending data outside or not.

It also sold personal data to chinese personal loan companies. Some of whom asked access to storage and saved personal photos and extort money.

Therefore many organization ban personnel to use truecaller. Armed forces, intelligence and even some labs.
