Drsel's advice
1. Ideally Yes Marquee should be used only for online spends and the points earned should be redeemed for Zomato and Swiggy cash vouchers.

2. Ideally Yes Reserve 3x should be used only for online spends and the points earned should be redeemed for flights or hotels.

3. Yes Reserve 5x has the highest return of all Yes Bank cards, provided you have a lot of expenses in hospital bills, doctors fees, diagnostic tests (blood test, x-ray, CT scan, MRI etc.), medicines, travel (including online travel agents), luxury fashion brands.

Ideally Yes Reserve 5x should be used only for online spends in all the above categories, and the points earned should be redeemed for flights/hotels.

4. For all spends, if possible, ask the merchant to send a payment link by SMS, email or WhatsApp, so that you can pay online instead of offline to get the extra 2.25% (Marquee) or extra 1.5%.(Reserv 3x and 5x)

Can one change card to Reserv from Marquee or vice versa ? I’m told Marquee has higher qualifying criteria from Bank’s side . I’m torn between these 2 cards

That's not how you compare cards. The main moot of both cards is for online spending only, so don't compare it for offline spending and special MCC spending.

The real gap that SBI CB/Yes Marquee/Yes Reserv really fills in is for the non accelerated spending (for which GV doesn't exist on Gyftr).

So only and only for online non accelerated spending, I was thinking is there still a usecase of Yes Marquee being better than SBI CB?

Btw - Mind you, 1L is already quite high just for non accelerated online spends (given that most often abused MCC are excluded already, and that's a really good step from Yes Bank as well). Most people who have high spends would be having large chunk of them on amazon etc where GVs exist already, and Yes bank cards would be way suboptimal over there.

For fx spends I agree, Marquee definitely is a very good option and outweighs SBI CB anyday. But for me, fx spends aren't a majority of my expenses each month.

Like you're having requirements here (online, amzn gv, no fx, only gyftr etc.), if people have mentioned features in table as requirement they'll pick - YES Marquee.

and if bank not providing that card, they'll compare with - YES Reserv

hence the post..

we never know whether one need card for only online or offline or special categories.. Some people have other than amzn have spend requirement, for their own preference.

you're like me not using fx but that person who read may find it useful compared to other cards.

as mentioned, if solo purpose online shopping and preferred redemption cashback then none of the cards even marketing jargon premium or super premium cards beat sbi cb, including accelarated spends.

And, note atlas card is for hotel/miles transfer and this card is for revenue booking. If we use atlas revenue booking its only 2% and also as mentioned to get 5% they have to do travel transactions (like your online only card requirement, they have travel only requirement card).

Mostly this post is in "yes cards" section, not "credit card comparison" section.

https://www.technofino.in/community/threads/please-suggest-me-my-10th-credit-card.15522/post-286612

SImilarly, if below spends is the requirement, they can not get better rewards with SBI CB and have to choose other cards.

1712765715658.png

Some people like these cards, and hate SBI with their own reasons and some other will hate Axis even more with different reasons. Its upto them.

Anyway, for your requirement these two cardss are not good. SBI CB is the only card providing 5% cashback for online spends, cashback redemption, and amzn gift vouchers.

Btw, this post no way recommending two cards. Its just a comparison between two cards of same bank.

Not possiple at the moment. bank denying converting mastercard to VISA. Drop a mail, we never know when they change their settings at the backend.

Which card offers more than 5% RP rate bro for non accelerated online spending (barring special MCC)?

You're right, I wasn't trying to generalise earlier, I was asking for my own requirement only. I wanted to understand where I can fit either Yes Marquee/Yes Reserv for what kind of subset of spends. And it seems like that subset would be non accelerated online spends only. Since for GV based spends, other cards can give far higher return. Hence the query about the same, and comparison with SBI CB card for the same reason. Yes Marquee/Yes Reserv had they been giving airmiles it'd have been a completely different thing - but they give points similar to cashback only end of the day - if anything cashback is more valuable "relatively speaking", since tomorrow they can add premium to their flight/hotel booking portal just like Smartbuy has done. Had it been airmiles, I'd have preferred for it any day over cashback, but unfortunately that's not the case with both Yes Marquee/Reserv.

Atlas is 4% RP rate, no card offers better return rate than Atlas for offline non accelerated spending as of date. It's not just a travel spending focused card. @helloworld

This is a fabulous comparison!
I have Yes FIRST BUSINESS card LTF , which cannot be converted to ether MARQUEE or RESERVE and because I have this card I cannot even apply for Marquee or Reserve, because only one card is allowed per person.

so I need to close this First Business LTF card and then wait 6 months and then apply for the Marquee or Reserve.
Is there any better solution?

Yes Reserv with subscription is like a Paid card with joining and renewal fees without any joining and renewal benefits.

Would anyone of you have taken this card (for that matter any card!!) if it came with Joining and renewal fees upfront without benefits? Think about it.

All calculations of 3L spend and 7L spend etc look good in theory. What happens if things get devalued suddenly?

In this context, I feel Marquee is far better card than Reserve irrespective of all calculations

P.S: Great effort by helloworld in putting together this comparison

But you can't predict things like devaluation with banks right? They already have more than sufficient MS restrictions in place to prevent gamers, which is already good and makes it very less likely for abuse. What if they don't devalue any of them anytime soon. Another way to look at it is that, yes bank only fairly recently rebranded and changed benefits on all it's cards - that must have been after giving good thought to it right? Why will they do all this revamp, and devalue it so soon as well. I'm not saying they wouldn't, just trying to say there can be different logical perspectives, and one can't really predict for these things.

Also, The joining and renewal fee can practically be waived off easily with spends on Yes reserv. So it can easily be made to a LTF card.

So the only cost to pay for is really just the 3x plan price, which is ultimately the customer's choice. And for what it charges it does give a sizeable upside as well.

So does Reserv 3x still give 2.25% return on income tax and property tax?
is this the highest in the market?

I'm not expert in this category but considering both of them now under 'govt. payments' and many cards day by day removing this category from earning points, not expecting to rely on any of these cards much.

Consider milestone cards (if allow these payments for consideration) but yes, seems like this is the highest AFAI can find at the moment.

Did you drop a mail, what response you got? Might try nearby branch, they may help.

Note: As mentioned in main post, in last 6 months these cards have so many changes, so consider switching fast or better for stable version pick 'Marquee' for longer reliability.

Not sure if you aware about it or not, this is the bank once upon a time competes with HDFC in terms of accelarated benefits through their dedicated portal called 'YES CART' before "that Scam" happened.

1712853727923.png

thats 15% rewards..

1712853815603.png
then that Scam happened, Other major bank bought something from it, then slowly bank reducing benefits, conditions etc. until last year.

Now, it try to restart again with new names and cards with more stable benefits (agreed, still finding to get that stable part, but actively working unlike last 3 years where its benefits are less than XS Fl.Kart card).

Hope they re-introduce this 'YES CART' (similar to smartbuy or grabdeals) but seeing the bank condition I'm not expecting that anytime sooner.

Note: Anyone going for these cards, be mind that at the moment these cards are very much unstable (Marquee comparatively more stable than Reserv) along with bank. So, take it as secondary or third card and ready to redeem points as soon as it sufficient for your spends.

Till last year reward points valid for 'LIFE TIME', now its only '3 YEARS' and values reducing in provided options.

DBS Spark 20 is giving 4% return on utility bills on spends between 20000 to 35000 (4000 to 7000 points max) every card anniversary month.
Plus extra 1% (5000 points @20p) for touching 1 lac every 3 months, which is easily reachable.
Each point is worth 20 paisa

However this card is available only to DBS bank employees and select bank account holders

Marquee is better unless you have max spends in travel & Healthcare. (More than 3 lacs/yr) Then Reserve 5x is better

Hey how to apply for this card? @drsel Is opening bank account with DBS mandatory to get this card, or can it be gotten without having DBS bank account as well? If no, does a basic account work for DBS to get this card, or any higher variant HNI account needed with DBS to be eligible with Spark20 card? Would appreciate your insights for the same! @drsel @helloworld
