Hi All, Just wanted to start a thread for best credit card and platform to pay rent starting 2024. Any help here would greatly appreciated

I have a rent of 43000 to be paid every month

I have the following cards DCB, MAGNUS, SELECT, AXIS VISTARA, SBI ELITE. I am okay to take any other card if reward points and milestone is considered for that

What about SBI vistara prime credit card? Will the rent payment be considered for milestone benefit? Also which platform is best to make payments from it?
Tried paying by SBI Vistara prime card. Transaction failed and my card was blocked. Has been blocked since then (over 15 days now). Worst card issuer ever!

Hi. What are the extra charges here? What does axis consider this payment as? Do they give reward points? (It's it worth without burgundy?)
1. Axis: 1% RG: 0.39% + GST
2. Rent
3. Yes. Base reward points only (4.8%)
4. No idea about regular Magnus. Don’t think its worth anything anyways with 5:2 conversion

AU LIT + payzapp + RG, with 2% (or 5% cashback online spends) and 10x pts on online spends enabled for LIT card
Monthly rent = 50k
2% cashback + 10x pts (which is 2%) = 1000 + 1000 = 2000. (This is possible because LIT card gives cashback and pts on wallet loads)
RG fees = 230
LIT Benefit fees = 240
Net benefit = 1500
I also pay the credit card bill via hdfc bill pay and get 1% cashback so 500 more, making the total benefit 2000.

One quick question
If I pay rent through my DCB card and my relative pay their rent through the add on card will it be considered 2nd rent payment on the same card and will attract 1% fee?
Will it still be considered for the milestone and accrue rewards?

It will be considered as 2nd rent payment. I am not sure if you are aware but all addon card has same card number and treated as a duplicate in hdfc for everything, doesn't matter if you're doing a PoS trx or online.

Oh thanks
Will it still be considered for milestone and rewards though?
Was thinking of moving payments of 50k as 2nd rent payment (actual rent payment) for rewards and milestone achievement (and ultimately upgrading to Infinia)

how you are planning to pay rent? redgiraffe+hdfc_billpay? I recently got reward points on first rent payment. I think (not sure) HDFC doesn’t consider it as rent payment otherwise we wouldn’t have get reward points.

Paying rent via credit card no longer makes sense. All cards charge around 1% and most rental payment platforms around 2% (both excluding GST) which means paying rent via CC costs you around 3.6% of the amount. This means for rent payment to be viable the card should give you at least 4% return benefits! In today's condition this is a tall order, even Infinia the best card, gives only 3.33% return on spends. Well there is no point even talking about that because most cards give no or minimal rewards on rent payment at all, and do not include it in milestones as well.

So unless you want to give free money to card companies and payment platforms, just pay rent via UPI or IMPS.
You can pay as education payment to save 1% of bank charges
You still have to give payment platform fee of ~1.5%

best to pay rent via magnus so that you meet the annual threshold to waive off the annual fee
I used to oay my rent through my ICICI sapphiro card but recently got the federal amplifi card and it has been giving me great cashback on payments, shopping and rent so moved onto that one, can try if magnus threshold isn't the bar for you

Rent is not counted for milestone for Axis Bank cards right?
