Amex Annual Fees Waived Thread

Hi

I asked Amex for Annual fee waiver of gold charge card.

Amex gave me below options

1. 12000 reward points if I decide to pay Annual fees
2. 50% discount on Annual fees
3. 100% reversal of Annual fees if I spend 60k in 3 months.

I am thinking to opt for 12000 reward points as I shifted all my spends to Axis Magnus and Vistara infinite. Don't want to do any manufactured spends.

I don't remember but someone said that, on request Amex gave 20k reward points instead of 12k to someone. is there any trick to convince for 20k points?

yes. I asked Amex for more points but they offered me full waiver if I spend 60k in 3 months

yes.. if I go for Gold collection top offer, I get 14k Taj voucher for 24k points.

with 12K points offer, I am getting valueback upto 7K

I have Gold card since 6 years. At that time MRRC wasn't there. When MRCC Launched, Amex offered that card for free to me. So now I hold both the cards

Its easy to make 6x1000 rs transactions every month to get 1K MR every month as compared to 4x1500 transactions every month (MRCC). Also I GOLD CHARGE's rewards multiplier is very powerful for people who use. I just own Smart Earn CC and after lot of comparison, I am applying for GOLD Charge for now over MRCC because its very easy for me to make 6 transactions worth 1K every month and easily get around 1250 points easily monthly. Also if I apply via referral, I will have to pay 1K and will get 6K points (after spending 10k in 90 days which is very easy). So for the first year its an amazing card. Later on depending on my usage and what waivers I am offered, I will think of either cancelling or renewing it for the next year. But for the first year, its an amazing option it seems! Share your views guys if this is right..

The Annual Membership Renewal fee of Rs.4500 will be 100% waived off if total spends on American Express Credit Card in the immediately preceding membership year is Rs.1,50,000 and above; else 50% annual membership renewal fee will be waived off if total spends on American Express Credit Card in the immediately preceding membership year is Rs.90,000 to Rs.1,49,999.
