Historic Diwali Gift for the Nation - NEXT-GEN GST REFORM

Though I disagree with the use of term "historic" but overall it's a good decision towards right direction.

5%, 10%, 20%, 40% would have ensured better representation.

-Cars don't deserve 40% bracket. Should have been lower.
-Financial products and services deserves better pricing. 5% or 12% would have been better. Credit card/ Loan "interest" ke upar GST kaun lagata hai yaar!
-Inclusion of fuels. They can start with 40% then 18%.

So as already told that there are always two sides of coin,so just there is some advantages and disadvantages too..it will be there in each regime
That's the problem brother!
In this regime the disadvantage part is not at all discussed or shared.
If someone tries to explore he is marked anti-national congressi porkistani RR and what not.
I have problems with both parties.

The IT Cells of some parties do a very good job of pushing only the positive picture of some things.

How to be Savior:
  1. First create the problem yourself
  2. Explain how it is not possible to live without this problem
    1. People who don't agree, designate them as anti-nationals
  3. When you popularity takes a hit, solve it yourself
  4. Finally claim yourself to be the Savior
Edit: Forgot the most important point 2.1

For term insurance and LIC endowment, Yes if your premium due starts after 22nd there should be no GST.

For health insurance or any other variable price policy the GST might get removed but the companies will probably raise base policy price to account for ITC loss.

Wow it took less than 12 hours for a thread to become full on political and toxic, kudos.
When OP titles something that should have been done long ago as a "diwali Gift" , ofcourse its gonna become political. Its insulting and downright disjointed from reality to say the least for all the money we have spent on tax with little to no proper returns in infrastructure.

I think he just used the title from the Government as well as the attached image word for word. Even including block letters.

However request to all, can we let the thread continue with discussion on GST and rate cut.

Nothing to feel happy

Before independence (2014), i was paying 12.34% service tax which is now 18%

I was paying 5% VAT on some products before independence which is now 18% for around 75% items..Earlier Essential products were exempted from VAT but now i am paying 5% on them.

Is anyone planning to return insurance policies if they are currently in free look period and purchase them again once new gst rates are in place?
Yes, I am considering this. I purchased a Term Life policy on August 18, and it is still in its 30-day free-look period. I paid 6200 rupees GST for this.
I checked with customer care, and they said the amount will be refunded after deducting the stamp duty charges and the costs incurred for the medical checkup. The stamp duty charges are a whopping 2000 rupees, and they asked me to email customer care to find out about the medical checkup costs.
Now I am waiting for their response before deciding.

I mean this food was anyways going to waste, so its not that big of a burden on the govt. Its the farmers that are fucking everyone over. Pay 0 tax and cry over reforms.
Hum ye bhul jate hain ki govt ka burden is ultimately every citizen's burden whether he/she is tax payer or not (it does not matter at all). Govt logo ki hi representative hai, when govt gives subsidies, it is we who are borrowing from us only and repay more in future when time comes to pay principal + interest.
