AMEX Platinum Travel Renewal

Lucky guy. I asked and they denied me anything.
Did you called to customer care or did Chat with amex team?
I had called them a few days back and they told me you can downgrade it. However, when I called again after the fee was charged, they said the downgrade option was only valid at that time and that it couldn’t be done now. I told them it was unprofessional on Amex’s part, I was only taking the time they had given me to decide, and now they were denying the downgrade. After putting the call on hold, the representative came back and said they would proceed with the downgrade.
And most important part will you loose the MR points gained with Amex Plat card or will stay the same.
I downgraded from gold charge to MRCC,
Points remain as long as we any one card.

Strange behavior from Amex. Did you called them few days before 2nd year fee will be charged or well in advance?
I called today and they said call us in august we may have some offer for you. I have renewal on 8th August.
Will see if they have something or not. Other wise close the card.

Called them well in advance.
I’d suggest not calling them before the fee is charged. They simply refer to earlier call and say that you were already informed there were no offers at that time. This makes it difficult to get any retention offer later.
