Which Debit or Credit Card Have You Closed (or Plan to) in 2025 & Why?

Wasn't it charging earlier for fuel transactions? Have a look at fuel cards like IDFC First Power+ or Kotak 811 Super debit card for fuel transactions.
Yeah.. it was not. It started charging surcharge this year from March.

Funny thing, Last year when I got the card, instead of actual fuel amount, I mistakenly entered CC pin in amount input and paid. 😀
Petrol pump guy returned the balance cash to me.

I thought I would get reward points. Upon checking, I realised there were no reward points for fuel txns. Thank god there was no surcharge that time.

My fuel expenses are minimal for now. Does not warrant getting a dedicated fuel card.
 
Is there a way to make Axis FK LTF?
My expenses are around 1L/year on this card. I don't want close it as it has unlimited 5% cashback on FK and last couple of years, it has been useful in purchasing mobiles.

Most probably no.

It was once given LTF on promotional offer. From then I haven't heard of anyone who got it LTF or converted it LTF

I plan to close:

1. SBI Cashback card as it is a paid card whereas HDFC Swiggy is a LTF card with similar benefits

2. RBL Signature Plus debit card, as it not much useful now that all the payment gateways are not accepting debit cards for CC payments
 
I wish to close HDFC Pixel, it’s LTF, but took it by mistake, feels like a useless card to me. But keeping it for now.

SBM one credit card - Feels money stuck and no benefits now, and not even any offers.
 
Closed this year:
Sbi vistara prime and Amex platinum reserve.
Planning to close before renewal:
Standard chartered ultimate and Axis magnus.
Not sure/decision pending: LTF IndusInd Legend
 
Tried cancelling my FK Axis card twice after clearing unbilled dues. Both times, they asked me to call again for fee reversal. On the last call, they said the fee would be charged today and to call back today to get it reversed.

So I did. But again, they wasted time trying to retain me. I said no. This time, the fee hadn’t been charged yet, so they said they can’t reverse it—and they also refused to take a cancellation request. Asked me to call again after a few days.

I told them I didn’t want to keep calling and dealing with their useless voice recognition, IVR, CC exec, then cancellation exec chain.

Now he says there’s still an unbilled amount and he can’t cancel it. I asked for an email ID to send a cancellation request after payment, he refused, saying cancellations aren’t accepted over email for “security reasons.”

Neither of the two executives I spoke to during the 20-minute call gave me any email ID.

So, while still on call, I paid the dues and waited for it to reflect. He kept saying he couldn’t help and asked to call again for fee reversal, I kept saying I won’t call again.

After a lot of back and forth, he finally agreed to raise the cancellation request but started trying to push a new LTF MyZone/Neo/some card. I was furious and said no again.

Eventually, he agreed to submit the cancellation request. I asked when I’d get confirmation. he said within 24 hrs. But I’m skeptical.

If I don’t get confirmation, how can I escalate? Didn’t find any email IDs on their contact page.
