Looking for a RuPay card that meets the following requirements:
  • Must work without a minimum spend of ₹2000
  • Should have the same reward rate across different apps (not just the issuer’s app)
  • Must earn reward points on grocery purchases and roadside eating places
  • At least 1% reward rate or cashback

I haven't been tracking RuPay cards much lately, so if any fit these criteria, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Special Thanks!

@Hemang : Axis Airtel Rupay (1% offline spends)
@2025 : AU InstaPay (1% on selected categories include eating places, grocery and pharmacy)

Note:
  • Eterna: 0 points for 95% of my spending in these categories, same applies to Snapdeal
  • Tata Neu: Unreliable app outside, struggles to open, inconvenient RP split between HDFC and their platform, and requires using their app only and if any issues have to check support here and there.

neu coins can be redeemed on tata group online purchases including bigbasket, 1mg, air india express etc. entire neu coin balance can be used for single txn without any min/max limit
I see it in a slightly different way.

Tata Neu UPI rewards come in 2 ways -
  • 1% in the neu app if you use Neu app for UPI scan. (you won't get this 1% if you use some other app)
  • 0.5% in the card statement for the infinity card (irrespective of the app like gpay, amazonpay, neu, phonepe etc)
In the app side, I have seen that I get '1 neu coin earned' notification only when I scan something above Rs 60 or Rs 70. (That means your assumption of 67 could be right) [Also, this unlocks after 7 days of the UPI scan and is valid for 1 year]

In the card side, what I think is - add the total UPI spends in the month - and then multiply by 0.5% = you will see this as UPI rewards in the card statement.
(Here I am not sure if there is a minimum limit exist or not). It will appear as "NeuCoins_on_UPI_Acc" [This gets credited in bulk (along with other neu coins earned in the statement) after 3 days of the staetment generation date]

This time when I checked, my total UPI spends (excluding petrol) is Rs 10012 and the neu coins received is 44. So there is a small difference. It should be 50, but I got 44. That means there also there is a minimum spend. Since it is difficult to calculate, I left it. (not worth the time freaking for 10-20 Rs I felt)
In in the above case how he can use 44 neu coins, as a cash back or by purchasing something else ?

Thanks.

Could you please check that statment again. But this time do txn wise (not together) in multiple of 200.

Let me know whether it coming close to 44. (200*44 = 8800, valid) My guess is remaining could be either below Rs. 200 or excess after Rs. 200 multiples.
You are giving me more work 😄🤣😊
I will do but need some time.
Most of my UPIs are 8 rs, 11 rs, 23 rs and so on..

Bro in neu card there is nothing called cashback or statement credit.
Everything comes as neu coins in the app.

Technically you can call it cashback but it is not really 'cash' coming back in the statement.
You can use neu coins instead of paying cash in the app itself while buying something else.

Simply use "Ecosystem of Tata".

I am monitoring Tata Neu very closely using an Excel sheet.
The statement credit formula I derived after months of data entry is =ROUND(IF(Amount< 33, 0, 0.5% * Amount),0)
It is rounding up to the zero decimal point transaction if the amount > 33.

For Neu coints in app, =IF(Mode= "neu app", ROUND(IF(Amt < 100, 0,1% * Amt),0),0)

Excellent. Thanks. @2025

I think that's what I said. I am not a programming guy. So can u please elaborate with some example in layman language. whether these txn will be getting neucoins? If yes how much?
like
1. Tata neu app taking example of 40, 50, 70, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180.

2. Same exercise for other apps with amount for example 60, 90, 130, 180, 230, 300, 400.

Earlier its 35rs when they provide whole 1.5% in hdfc statemetn, later when they moved to tataneu I stopped using due to app problems, but occasional usage with 1% credit, as follows..

as mentioned neucard is one of the rarest that do 'roundup' ..

- still one of the worst reward system by splitting 0.5% + 1% and this 1% is transaction date + 1 month instead of cumulative at month end like 0.5%.. poor design IMO...

anyway,

tataneu app (1%) // HDFC statement as usual 0.5%

150 -- 2 NC
120 -- 1 NC
730 -- 7 NC
79 -- 1 NC
197 -- 2 NC
