So, I’m quite late in sharing this post, but I received many queries about it, so here it is.
Axis Bank provided a zero-balance Priority Savings Account with zero charges for the debit card, cheque book, SMS alerts, and other services — all completely free as per their Axis Priority Account offering, and all with no minimum balance requirement.
This offer was available during IIT Mandi Hive 2.0 Fest (31st Jan to 1st Feb), where Axis Bank had a stall offering this to all students of IIT Mandi. After asking them further, the Relationship Manager (RM) said this offer was also being given at IIT Delhi, which is why I mentioned this in my previous post.
I was provided a Priority Debit Card and a cheque book with zero IP charges.
I don't keep much balance in the account — it usually ranges between ₹2,000 to ₹15,000 — but I have never experienced any deductions. I’ve never received any fund maintenance-related mails or notifications, and I cannot even see any minimum balance requirement reflected in the app.
I could provide the RM’s details as well, but to avoid spam, I won’t. However, you can confirm this offer by contacting the Axis Bank Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) branch directly.
They also mentioned that this offer would soon extend to all IITs, which is why I had not posted this earlier. Now, it’s been 6 months, so they might already be offering this at other IITs too.
Best of luck try your luck by contacting your IIT's nearest branch and refer Mandi branch.
