Why Does HDFC Keep Blocking My Millennia Card Every Month for Amazon Wallet Loads?

I opened an HDFC Max Savings account in March 2025 and got the Millennia Debit Card after replacing the default Platinum DC.

In April, after adding just ₹5,000 to my Amazon Wallet, they temporarily blocked my card. I had to call support to get it unblocked. After that, I did transactions totaling ₹40,000 in different amounts without any issues.

But today, the same problem happened again.

My card got blocked immediately after a declined Amazon Wallet transaction—even though I confirmed it was genuine via call and WhatsApp message within seconds. Despite that, they still blocked the card.

What’s strange is that all other transactions on different platforms are going through just fine.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the error message.
Customer care was no help—just the usual “it’s for security reasons” response.

Anyone else facing this issue with the Millennia DC + Amazon Wallet combo?

Since the account was opened in March 2025, it's still quite new and HDFC may have stricter fraud rules for new accounts, especially with large or wallet-related transactions. HDFC flags transactions, triggering automated blocks. Even if confirmed as genuine, their fraud system can still block the card as a precaution.

Last month, even my 500 was blocked. Yes, 100% true last point.

I realised emailing them is a better option. Warn them not to block your cards unnecessarily. You are well aware about the risk.

WhatsApp and calling is also ok. But, you have to tell them that you going to transaction in future as well. They need to mark your account in such a way that such small transaction should not get triggered.

Also, suggest you to update your profile in net banking, particularly income profile. Hopefully things will get sorted soon. In last 2-3 months they become more vigilant.

The wallet load txns are getting flagged by the system and it is happening to many bank cards. Maybe something is under test at banks and RBI and Card network level.

As we all know, the wrong-doers have been using wallets to siphon off money so maybe system is learning currently and flagging txns leading to card blocks and re-opening by customer after that.

I am also seeing this trend with wallet load only. So 6540 MCC txn flagging is going on from time to time.

The IVR call we received is also recording the way we say YES to confirm the txn. I changed my voice a little and it again reiterated that we couldn't get your response and repeated the message. Then I said yes in normal voice and it said Thank you for confirming.
