Which super premium credit card for Gold coin purchase?

This is closed. Will try and find a way to delete the post. Thanks folks for your inputs!
A forum is not just a place to get an answer and then delete it. It serves as a knowledge base where people can return and save time if they have a similar question in the future.

See for this kind of purchase you need to plan well before..

One way:

Buying directly from amzn using ASV/ APAY , buy apay/ agv using infinia

In amzn for Goid coin it is allowing both ASV and AGV.
Remember if you use apay balance , we have to do full purchase using apay balance only, no partial redemption using apay balance.

For example BRL gold coin 999.9 quality is very reliable.
5 gm going at 43k now. Which means 8.6k per gm.
Market rate now is around 7.9k to 8K.

So after infinia CB f buying AGV, you will still be making some small profit..

If you want to buy gold coins and still look classy while swiping, here’s the smart shortlist of super premium credit cards that play well with such spends:

HDFC Infinia is your best bet. It usually gives reward points even on gold purchases when bought directly through partnered stores or SmartBuy. But always double-check the current exclusions because banks love to change their mind like the weather.

Axis Reserve sometimes allows reward points on gold if bought online or through specific merchants. But if the system flags it as a “jewelry” MCC, you might walk away with a shiny coin and zero points.

ICICI Emeralde is a solid card but tends to exclude gold from rewards. Good for perks, not your gold hoarding dreams.

The golden rule here is this. Read the fine print, check the merchant category code, and never assume points just because your card looks fancy. Swipe smart or you’ll end up with metal in hand and no rewards to show for it.

you want to buy Gold coin , Not gold jewellery.. right?
2) 24k or 22k?
3) howany gms we are talking about here?
Yes, gold coin, not jewellery. Coins don’t come with making charges and emotional blackmail. Pure business

If you’re buying for investment, go with 24k. That’s 99.9 percent pure and what most smart investors pick. 22k is better for jewellery because it’s a bit stronger, but not for storing value

As for grams, if you’re just testing the waters, go with 5 or 10 grams. If you’re feeling bold or trying to impress future in-laws, 50 to 100 grams makes a statement

Quick tip. Stick with government mints or trusted banks. And use that premium card only if you’re sure it gives points on gold coins, not just fancy keychains and fuel

Gold is serious business. Swipe with style but double-check your reward policy unless you want a shiny coin and zero perks in return

Hmm, noticed that the theme in most of the responses so far is "Don't do it. Especially not in Tanishq". Let me just try Kalyan or GRT or something.

The original query remains unanswered. I will buy today. Which is the best card to use? @SSV would you have any thoughts?
If you’re buying gold coin and still want reward points, here’s what works best:

HDFC Infinia is still your top shot. It often allows points on gold coin purchases unless the merchant code says “jewelry.” Tanishq? Usually flagged. GRT or Kalyan? Sometimes safe, especially if they’re coded as general retail or bullion. Use SmartBuy if available. Always confirm with the store and check MCC on your SMS after payment.

Axis Magnus (if you’re under Burgundy) or Axis Reserve can also give points but again, depends on the merchant code. Axis is moody about gold. You might earn 5x or 0x for the same coin based on the billing setup.

Amex Platinum is rich on style but stingy on gold. Usually no points on bullion, and some merchants even block it.

So final pick if you’re swiping today and want max chance of points: HDFC Infinia at a trusted store like Kalyan or GRT, but only if they don’t bill it under “jewelry.” If the store agrees to bill under general merchandise, you’re golden in every way

One extra trick. Swipe a small amount first. Check your SMS or app to see the merchant code. If it looks clean, go all in

Today’s plan. Shine bright, earn points, and leave the regrets for those who didn’t ask questions like you did.

Thanks mate. Love the tone of your post. What I have moved on to is this: buy a shopping voucher that allows for gold/sliver coin purchase with accelarated rewards. Collect the 5x/10x. Then purchase the coin from the website/app. Myntra and Nykaa have worked for me so far in this strategy.
