What’s that underdog card for you? For me it’s BOB Eterna

Base Reward Rate: 0.75%

Accelerated Reward Rate: 3.75% (capped at 5k pts/ month)

Ideal Spending / Month: 42,000 INR

It’ll qualify for annual milestones of 5 Lac & 50k for 20k pts &10k pts. It'll shoot the reward rate to 4.75 on annual spends of 5 Lac.

1RP= 25p as statement credit.

It has also joining fee waiver on 25k spends on first 60 days, which is amazing considering the value

Same Perks on MasterCard and Visa variants? If someone can state the difference will be helpful. Thank You.

SCB Ultimate for me, on joining & renewal benefits.

First Year, got both 6000 RP & MMT Cashback
On Renewal, Fee was waived after charged & got 5000 RP for renewal.

So both the times, i got lucky with these benefits.
So SCB waives the fee on their own or did you request them?

Eterna for me as well considering BoB seems rather derided & criticized. I've never had to speak to cust care but that aside, the RPs accrual, redemption, joining benefits, fee waiver everything has happened smoothly & I've had no reason to complain!

2nd underdog although it's not an underdog anymore I guess.. since it has got a lot of hype recently.. Edition Classic.

I got it more than 15 months back when it wasn't so popular.. & even now, I like the fact that there are no exceptions like rent, insurance etc & on 2L online spending it's a direct 2.5% CB even excluding the birthday spends & the Zomato / dining 5%

I did some calculation/ analysis & thanks to the birthday 10%, I ended up getting something like 6-7% effective return in my first year. 16-17k something cash back for around 2.5-3L spends.

For someone like me where our family does order food online frequently it's been a great fit :) & I like the fact there's not much thought or check required on whether a type of spend is excluded or not.

Another one I like.. a bit similar to Edition Classic (atleast in the sense of no excluded spends) is HSBC Visa Plat. Though it has a steeper spend requirement for hitting the sweet spot.

All my cards are basic entry level cards but still I would chose icici coral as it gives me 10 percent discount on Flipkart on many items and it is the only card I have that gives me domestic airport lounge access although I have not tried that till now. This is only for me as all my cards are basic entry level cards .

For me , it's HDFC MILLENNIA , bcoz if someone has upto 20k spending per month on preferred merchants( Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Zomato, swiggy, ) it's straight 5% . It is a single card that provides 5% on Amazon , Flipkart and Myntra . Yeah it has capping of 1000₹ but we all know how UNLIMITED CASHBACK advertisement of Axis cards has gone wrong .
Too many issues of getting accurate cashback .
Too many restrictions .
Too many cancellation of cards😂 due to UNLIMITED USAGE . There is nothing unlimited .
For me , there's no single instance where I got less cashback on HDFC MILLENNIA , it'always accurate or some small amounts extra 😍.

For me it is Indusind pioneer legacy because i spend 6L per annum with it and get 3% cashback plus I save about 500 per month on bigbasket. It has 2% reward for weekend spend 1% on weekdays so I only use it on weekends. The best part is every transaction except emi earns points, so I use it for insurance, utilities etc and only on weekends and get 6000 extra points on spending 6L per year. There is no yearly fees too. Because of the reward rate I got legacy instead of heritage.
