Welcoming Union Bank Elite Metal Debit Card!!

I get my salary on 23rd or 24th. Wondering if that will be considered as salary. It will be strange if not
 
I asked the branch lady to if I can add my spouse as joint holder in this Elite account. She told its an salary account, so cant be converted in to joint account. 🥲

Wrong info from her side. I just opened this account jointly only

As @SJM replied, their website clearly tells the same.

Finally Union Bank Salary Elite Account was opened today (on 30th April). But not yet activated.

Few pointers for those applying:

1) Go to branch with One Photo, Original PAN and Original Address Proof ID (eg Aadhar). As backup take your salary slip (they asked me to bring on phone, but didn't ask)
2) Check if they can open Salary Elite Account, with code SALEL
3) Once agreed, ask them to start the process in system. Herein they will fill details in system and then ask for OTPs - email and phone.
3) Once Account opened, they will still need a account opening form. Two routes here:
Some branch will ask you to fill in a printed form with all details manually. This is quite tedious and error prone.​
Other branch will use online tool call MyDiary wherein they fill in personal details in system (including account no. generated in Step 2). Post that a prefilled form is printed. We need to sign and submit. This is fast and error proof.​
4) Post this, while we get account no., they will need to scan documents and get account activated from backend.

PS: Union Bank systems are super slow. If account gets opened in one go, you are really lucky fellow.

EDIT: Backend team have started asking for payslip.. may be lot of accounts opened recently.

Further update to earlier post..

Direct opening on joint account was technical challenge.

So they opened Solo account (on 30th April) and after backend activation (on 2nd May) added second name too.

Today (on 3 May) visited branch, got passbook printed which shows both names added to the account. Account type (Salary Elite) is also reflecting in passbook.

Branch generated Token for Vyom (their mobile app), which came on SMS. Using this and CustID was able to log into mobile banking.

Debit Card will hopefully be delivered in 7 days.

Received debit card for Primary holder today. No notification came.

Welcome kit containing diary, key chain, pen, metal debit card and card holder. Delivered via India Post.

For cheque book, got dispatch notification 2-3 days back but yet to be delivered. Again coming via India Post.

Funny thing - beneficiaries added in mobile app (Vyom) are not visible in net banking. Think vice versa too... Quite a headache.

Also their app gives timeout / network error everytime.. But in second, third time works. Netbanking doesn't give time out etc error but slow.

But lately, their "backend" team which activates the account, have started asking for salary proof. Pls be careful.

The bank staff said that there is some issue and they have raised with their backend. It seems that somehow second holder name is not reflecting in some systems to initiate debit card... Strange as seen the second name in passbook!! I have given up - have no time to chase.

Further the app and website is quite cumbersome. Payees in mobile app are not reflected in net banking (NB) and vice versa.

Only thing I learnt, with savings account they automatically open a wallet account too - for NCMC. Yet to use it, but a good option. Check and you will see this account in NB login.

same happened with me when I opened Udaan account joint.

1st card came in primary holder name within 1 week. i thought well & good. then i took follow-up for 2nd card which they said it got issued, but failed to give tracking details. raised complaint for the 2nd card & escalated the matter from branch itself. finally HO got involved, they said the card i already had is of secondary holder. and that they're issuing one for the primary holder now, by blocking & re-issuing the original 2nd card in their system. finally got it.
