Unauthorized transaction by goibibo

cardgenie

TF Buzz
Today I was just going through my transactions for my tata neu card and shocked to see the unauthorized transaction in the amount of Rs 3000. The transaction was from goibibo and I have not got any email alert for the same. I checked with my Rm and he told he will get back. Followed up with goibibo and mailed them screenshot. Also, it is not showing option for raising dispute transaction at HDFCs end.

What should be my course of action apart from mailing hdfc and gobibo?

Statement didn't get generated yet but it is showing in transactions...transaction was done yesterday
Most probably its an error on the banks part. When statement comes, such an entry wont be there. Anyway email the hdfc credit card customer care for documentation sake

Sure, does it comes under cyber crime...as I can clearly see the transaction is from goibibo... and unauthorized access to my CC details which resulted in this transaction?

For domestic transactions otp is needed. I guess you didnt share otp. Hope your international transactions were off at the time of the goibibo transaction. In this situation its not a cybercrime or fraud.

Since you didn’t get any intimation from bank via sms or email its probably an error on the hdfc credit cards backend. They will correct it. But just send an email for evidence. Also disable all transactions till statement generation.
Also call hdfc credit card customer care and lets see what they have to say. If possible, record the conversation.

Yes I have not given any otp ...neither I received any transaction alert via email / sms ... called hdfc and they redirected me to Rm ..Rm casually told I'll get it checked with operations team and disappeared

Send an email to the RM’s official account to record the issue.

Let me just over simplify this, If you are 100% sure that you did not authorise this transaction then report that charge as fraud, block the card and get a new card issued..BTW what is this charge for? Does the amount looks familiar for something you may have authorised?

it just doesn't work this way.

Domestic trxns doesn't go through without OTP.

And goibibo's trxns can't be physical POS trxns.

OP is claiming many this here, so let me give point wise summary -

*OP didn't get OTP, yet trxn went through. Even in case of fraud, this isn't possible.
*OP didn't get trxn sms (not otp, just after otp trxn alert), neither he got email. Which again isn't possible.

So OP didn't get 3 things here, OTP, trxn sms alert, email alert. All 3 are different channels.

Btw, may be goibibo also takes UPI trxns? I don't use goibibo so don't know, but OP has tata neu rupay card, so trxn can be through UPI on credit, hence no otp sms?

Anyways, I smell ignorance here. Needs more info here. We need screenshot of the trxn with full descriptor, we need exact amount, trxn date. Also the trxn history of OP's phonepe/gpay/etc upi apps with which the card is linked and show history of trxns. and we need all these in screenshots, not just words.

The transaction looks similar to hotel booking...cos I did hotel booking with goibibo last month and same transaction appeared on statement... I'm still shocked how did this transaction went through without any sms/ email alert.. also my international txn is disabled ... neither card is saved on goibibo...

Scams are so advanced these days that scammers can manipulate transactions without OTP and Text messages...But I agree, prima facie it does not look like a scam here and as OP mentioned he did transact with Goibibo last month and it might be something related to that may be a hidden charge he unknowingly agreed to or it may not eventually show on statment but for peace of mind you can always get a new card issued with a different number
