Surprisingly good experience with Axis Amex Privelege credit card application process

Hi,

I just wanted to share my experience with fresh application for axis bank credit card. I'll try to make this post as in depth as possible even for future applicants.

I was looking to apply for an american express card - strictly for the card network and limit because I intend to link it with Alipay. (I do not care about flexing so no prestige in an amex issued card or a bank partnered card, I never swipe my card outside, only online payments)

While Amex will restart applications from 15th Sep and I might still apply for it depending on my limit with axis, I needed a card now because LE will take time and I will have 9-12 months of spending with this card already as soon as it delivers to me. I also applied for this because this is LTF for a limited time, which makes it all the better.

My profile:

1. Cibil - 780 (still 780 after the hard inquiry), credit history 1 year 4 months (Clean History, credit utilization on cibil at the time of hard inquiry - 25%)
2. Current cards - HDFC Moneyback+ (62k, unsecured) and IDFC WoW (1lac, secured). Got HDFC last year in April and IDFC this year in June.
3. Annual Income - 6,75,230 as per ITR filed (this year for the first time, taxes were 18000 but CA made them NIL)
4. Employment type - Self Employed
5. Total CIBIL Inquiries - 6 (including Axis, yesterday), last 3 months - 4 inquiry (IDFC made 2, I also applied for ICICI coral but was rejected because they said income was not qualified but they didn't ask for bank statements themselves only ITR applied through an offline branch contact since their online portal instantly rejects Self employed, 4th is Axis)
6. Banking relationship or any other previous relationship with Axis - NO

DISCLAIMER: NOT A CREDIT CARD ENTHUSIAST, My needs are fulfilled mostly. I won't be applying for any more credit cards ever except for Amex which right now is unclear too since I don't know my limit but my card network requirement is met.

I applied for the ICICI card last month, cibil was hit on 1st August, went from 782 to 781, 1 point adjusted recently for some reason so 780 now. I was going to apply for this card on 31st itself, thinking that I might as well apply and it won't matter if i get rejected because my cibil will remain the same (ran the score simulator)

I waited until 12AM 1st of September (I stay up late, didn't do it for the credit card application), then I started filling the application at 12.02AM, got a message from Axis at 12.03AM with the OTP to proceed for Amex Privelege card. (0 joining fee, 0 annual fee - LTF)

Went ahead with it, filled the application more. Office address is the same as home address i just slightly modified it removing a single letter and shortening it a bit. (Aadhar and current address is the same, just an FYI)

verified my personal email with the otp, then for the employment bit, selected self employed, Nature - Professional Service Provider, Sole Proprietorship, business income. (Annual Income was locked in from the start of the application, unchangeable), Business age - 2 years.

then submitted the application, Cibil was hit at 12.14AM (Credit card, 10000), straight up got the Vkyc link, to start it, also got the message for vkyc and my application number with C1. Decided I would do it in the morning. Woke up at 5AM to see another message from axis at 4.14AM, Went ahead with Vkyc link at 6AM, it asked for a few details to log in and also my aadhar number or VID number. Gave it, got an otp from aadhar for verification, entered it and then got a prompt:

Agents are unavailable from 11 or 12 to 8am, was a bit odd since their website says 24x7 VKYC is avaliable but well, decided to go back at 8.01AM. At 6.07AM, I got another message from Axis that my aadhar was successfully used to carry out e-KYC.

Got back to the vkyc website at 8.01AM, logged in, gave permissions and was ready to start the process at 8.03AM with an agent, experience was good and the agent was polite.

VKYC Experience: Took it on a laptop.

He let me know, I can't go out of frame and I can't have anyone else in the frame otherwise the VKYC will be rejected instantly. The usual recorded disclaimer, also that this card is for personal usage (Only do personal transactions anyway) and if i applied under pressure from any 3rd party.

First thing he asked me was for my PAN, he had problems capturing it because of reflection, fixed it by changing room/lighting. Then he asked me some questions, I was told to not look anywhere but straight at the webcam.

Then he took a picture of me, same level so had to pick laptop up.

Questions (not in the same order): DOB/Father's Name/Mother's name, which variant did i apply for (got 3 options), annual income (got 3 options)

After that vkyc was complete, took some time to process. The next message i got from axis was at 10.12AM - thanks for applying, application <no> is being reviewed, expect an update within 5-7 working days.

At this point both ekyc and vkyc were done. I was wondering if anyone would visit for residential kyc and also get the income documents for me. (Also heard bad things, the agent cancels the application and applies a new one, they tell you to open an account in axis bank, they sell insurance)

Note: At this point or even now, i can't track my application on Axis credit card track website even if i enter my PAN and not the applcation number.

Today on September 2, I just got a message an hour ago at 9.36AM - 'Your axis amex privilege credit card application ref no: <> has been approved and the card will be delivered shortly.' - less than 24 hours after my application was under review.

No one visited for physical kyc but if they had, i was ready for it with bank statements and ITR.

Waiting for my card to deliver in 7-10 days, no hurry for it and also to find my credit limit. If it's good, I won't have to apply for amex smartearn otherwise I will have to.

Next step is to apply for Manual LE from HDFC and upgrade to millenia. But I'm done with cards after this.
