Hello TF community

My friend recently moved to France, Europe and will be doing transactions like grocery, insurance payments, occasional flight bookings and trains for travel in europe. He doesn't have a credit card yet but has salary slips and all. Any suggestions for a credit card? Should he take a European one or Indian is better?

Thanks!

IMO best is local one there
Indian cards cross currency rates sometimes will not be favorable for the rewards

What if Infinia (net reward of 2%; More if redeemed at Accor) /Atlas (3.5% rewards when redeemed at Accor), when Forex are compared?
Even hdfc have some global programs to enroll but still if that country cards are lucrative we can use those
Moreover if one stays out of India for 182 days its deemed as nri and if they use Indian cards they’re required to file IT must

1) NRI Infinia variant is there
2) Atlas - Axis allows NRI to use them (got it written in mail)
3) No need to wait 182 days - A visa and an address of stay is enough.

Regarding ITR - Yes, but won't be of an issue if you have proof of tax paid in other countries.

Most of the European countries provide below PAR/on par returns compared to Infinia on Forex.

However, the deal breaker would be flight tickets . It itself rewards you abundantly with Infinia and Atlas, off setting everything and anything else. (Atleast for me)

Thanks for all the responses! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
Some really useful answers!!

Infinia might take a while, hm.. maybe go for a local one for now and try for it after a while.. I'll present both options to him.
Any specific european or local to France card one would reccomend, or has used or any experience with?
