Strange Experience in Canara Bank

I opened a Canara bank account online and after two days went to my nearest branch which I put as home branch to get a passbook.

There they said that I need to do KYC for getting passbook, I told them that I did KYC just yesterday online and after verification only they opened my account.

They said that you gave the documents online but they don't have the documents physically with them so they told me to do KYC with the form provided.

Now comes the strange part, on the form there is no option for doing KYC for passbook ( It only had options for debit card and other things).

I have opened more than 6-8 accounts online and not once I had to do KYC for passbook. Since I can check my transactions online I didn't do KYC.

But this is very strange, if a person does KYC online and opens account they shouldn't have to do it again. (Has anyone else faced this in Canara Bank or any other bank?)

Canara bank tries to do KYC in branch for any request for accounts created online.

I had the complete opposite experience. I opened accounts online with BOB, Canara, and BOI. Both BOB and Canara didn’t require any physical KYC at the branch when I went to collect the passbook. BOB only asked for the welcome letter soft copy, and Canara didn’t ask for anything at all. But BOI handed me a 5–6 page KYC form to fill out—at that point, I just said 'thank you' and walked away.

Same experience with bob I just went there and showed the email of ac number and they gave me passbook.

For me bob has the best psu experience followed by sbi in my area.
