Lets say, 4000 fuel requirement every month..
160 + 40 fuel surcharge waiver = 160*12 = 1920Rs.
Spends: 48,000 Fee: 885 (can be waived depends on negotiation)
Net return: 2.15% (on fuel)
-------
Lets say, 2000 more on utility bills every month..
100*12 = 1200
Spends: 48k+24k Fee: 885 (easy to get waiver, if tried with little persistance)
Net return (on both fuel + utility): 3.1%
Note: Both net returns are if fee paid, it can be waived easily.
Problem:
Cashback (exclusive of surcharge reversal) will not be provided if the value of the maximum transaction amount exceeds INR 2000 for fuel purchase. For receiving 5% cashback on utility and telephone bills, the minimum transaction amount should be INR 750, and the utility and telephone bill should be paid through the Billpay platform of Standard Chartered by logging onto online banking and visiting ‘Bill Payments’ to register.
