Sbi Octane Credit Card Reward Points Issue

I'm not getting the reward points and the surcharge waiver for the fuel purchases made by me using my sbi octane credit card. But the issue is with only one petrol bunk and Surprisingly if I made fuel purchases from any other BPCL bunk I'm getting additional 10/- charge added to see every transaction but not on this bunk from where I'm not getting reward points or surcharge waiver.

To whom should I raised a complaint to get this resolved.TIA.

Thanks but I didn't find answer to my question like why I didn't get the reward points or where to complain regarding this.

Also I haven't mentioned that the pos machine on that bunk was paytm one and they did insert my card into pos machine and not swipe and pay, just FYI. Also all the transactions I have done till date were insert and pay only and I think I got points for all other transactions.

My Personal Experiences. I have an SBI BPCL Octane Credit Card (Visa), and I have also faced this issue 2-3 times in the last few months. However, every time the issue has been resolved favourably albeit with a little nudge to them through the customer care, over a few days. After the transaction gets posted and is viewed in the SBI Card app, one will come to know if the RPs have been correctly given or not. Thereafter, one can take corrective action in case of any discrepancy.

Reason for RPs not Getting Credit. Even at the BPCL outlets sometimes the RPs don't get credited. This is because - as confirmed by their customer care representatives - either the POS machine on which the card is used is not registered with the BPCL database, or the name of the outlet and the name in the POS machine does not match with the BPCL database, or any such reason which is beyond the customer's control.

Action to be Taken. So, in these cases, one has to call their customer care and inform them about the transaction anomaly, after checking the same in the SBI Card app. They will take the request and then investigate at their end and if found genuine, then within 4-5 days the RPs will get credited. You will receive email also regarding the same and the service request status can be checked in the SBI Card app also.

Tip. Always take the transaction slip automatically generated by the fuel dispenser after the transaction. If it is not working, then tell the attendant to write the transaction details on their official bill - mentioning the quantity dispensed, rate per litre and total amount, along with the date and time. This will be useful to pursue your case in case they ask for a proof of the disputed transaction.

Yes, 1RP per 100 spend. BUT if you avail instant discount to purchase then the RP will be forfeited after 3 months.

Encountered this same issue of 10 getting added to the transaction amount with no rewards and surcharge waiver. When contacted SBI, although they credited the reward points but only 1% as surcharge, however blamed retailer for the inflated charge (extra 10). I took this up with the retailer, and he shared his payment receipt which has receiving of only 400 and informed me it is the bank who had charged more. Who is at fault here? Whom shall I reach out for redressal since both of them blaming each other? Earlier only 1% extra used to be settled up which used to get refunded in form of waiver but why this extra 10?

I don't know yet why this was happening and when I asked the customer service team they mentioned it's not them or the merchant but the merchants Bank who is charging this amount as they're using their pos.


But surprisingly I noticed one thing the company owned bunks charge only 1% surcharge will be waived off and other bunks who are using 3rd party pos machine like paytm also just charging 1% + gst and we'll get the 1% surcharge but not the gst which will save a lot to us

My Experience
Even at 3rd party fuel stations, with different POS machines (Paytm, Phone Pe, Pine Labs, etc), I was not charged any extra amount - only the fuel cost + surcharge + GST on surcharge. Out of this, surcharge of 1% was waived off. So, only the GST of 18% on the fuel surcharge was paid extra.

Fuel was filled up for Rs 3,950. In the bill, it was charged for Rs 3,996 (i.e. Rs 46 extra as fuel surcharge @ 1% of Rs 3,950 = Rs 39 + 18% GST on fuel surcharge of Rs 39 = Rs 7.02).
So, total amount in bill = Rs 3,950 (actual transaction) + 39 (fuel surcharge @ 1%) + 7 (GST @ 18% on fuel surcharge) = Rs 3,996.

Now, the surcharge waiver was credited back for Rs 39 (i.e. @ 0.98% of Rs 3,950).

So, total amount paid for fuel transaction of Rs 3,950 was Rs (3,996 – 39) = 3,957 i.e. Rs 7 was overall paid extra i.e. overall only 0.17% of Rs 3,950 was paid extra.

Note. As per the T&C (source here), only "1% Fuel surcharge waiver on every BPCL transaction up to ₹ 4000 (exclusive of GST and other charges)". So, GST of 18% on the fuel surcharge is not waived off.
