Can anyone verify and inform regarding SBI JCB RUPAY Platinum Debit Card for Foreign Txns-
1) What is the forex markup fees?
2) What are the total charges for ATM transactions in foreign?
Is this card should be used in foreign or not?

Used SBI JCB Platinum for ATM withdrawals in Malaysia (Maybank ATMs). Zero Forex Markup and Zero ATM withdrawal charges. Also, JCB offered the best rates when compared to Visa/Master in Malaysia.

Use SBI Platinum Rupay JCB debit card for wavier of 220 Baht fees for atm withdrawal. It also comes with 0 forex

For international transactions, Diners Black has always been my preferred card. Thanks to the fact the website did not accept Diners and I did not want to use AU Zenith which would have been a break even case, I decided to go with SBI Rupay-JCB Debit card because of zero forex markup.

Total amount: USD 153.75

Amount in INR (spot rate): 12,788 @ 83.17
Amount in INR (deducted): 12,795 @ 83.21
Amount in INR (Visa Rate): 12,804 @ 83.27

Overall found JCB conversion rates to be competitive.

It's Zero forex. I have used it during my Thailand trip last year & at Singapore in April 2025.

Yup, There is zero forex markup in the UAE as well and no International ATM withdrawal charges (SBI RuPay JCB Platinum DC).

It's zero forex markup fee, zero withdrawal charges (like Rs.200 in Fi Debit card).

But, SBI Yono app doesn't work in some countries (if you want to switch on/off international transaction, or change limits). Last week, the app worked in Vietnam but didn't work in Malaysia. Please google more on this.

Better to turn on int'l transaction before leaving the country and keep adequate limits.

PS: SBI website worked (only in landscape mode) and was difficult to use.

it would be helpful if you could also share places where the JCB card actually works in Malaysia and Singapore. Though the terminal says JCB, the card doesn't work

I have heard that JCB acceptance is very low and it is advised to use cash most of the time

I have used it to withdraw money at Changi airport Singapore, also at atm in Pattaya.

I did both withdrawal just to check whether this card really works as intended or not. It definitely did.

Only at one of the Pos it was not accepted in Bangkok. Other than that, didn't faced any issue.

Still during international trip, always carry multiple zero/low forex debit or credit cards.

Always enable international transactions 48 hours before international travel and make sure all international modes are turned ON.

In some govt banks, it takes time to activate these settings in their system. If you don’t enable all three — Ecom, POS, and ATM — in some banks, POS might not work or the ATM might not function properly (obviously, it’s the bank’s fault as they don’t integrate things properly).

Sharing my experience and asking for SBI email id.

So, I was trying a trial ATM transaction of VND 500,000 (Rs.1640 approx) in Hanoi, Vietnam on 12th June. ATM machine counted the notes but didn't dispense. It also swallowed my card. 🙁

The ATM had a video call option to customer care and an English/Vietnamese speaking lady (waiting for her turn to use ATM) helped me in raising this issue with Vietnam's bank (TP Bank).

I was hopeful to get my card back. So, I did not block the card, just disabled all transactions. Next day, I got an email from TP Bank (I had provided them my mobile number and mail id) and I went to their main office in the city and got my card back. 🙂

Later, I used this card successfully in Hanoi for a small purchase at Circle K (~Seven 11) and for an ATM withdrawal in another city of Vietnam.

I was told by TP Bank executive that my money will be automatically refunded to my bank in next 7-10 days but it has not been refunded yet.

If anybody knows, please share email id of SBI to send an email to request refund. I do not want to call them and wait for hours.
