I too was told that this would happen to my sapphiro cards after I already held amex and they asked me to cancel amex + mc while applying for visa variant. I didn't cancel, they didn't cancel and ultimately I held all 3. This is what happened with almost everyone.

Looks like u were unlucky as in ur case they themselves cancelled other variants.
Maybe they a tally started actively canceling cards or else ICICI never cancels old card when they deliver a new one😅

I also got my Sapphiro visa similar to that. But recently they realised everyone doing it. So they went ahead and actually cancelled this time when applying for Rupay variant!

I got it based on LTF Sapp Dual cards, but they only processed it with the condition to cancel all other Sapphiro cards (and they did it!)

Did u get a call for cancellation later? Or it was automatically cancelled?

They informed me while applying and automatically cancelled other Sapphiro cards once my Rupay card was delivered. Didn't get any call separately for cancellation.

Earlier, ICICI bank also offer additional LTF card on other network based on our existing LTF card, we just had to send an email but now ICICI has closed this also.

Hi, I received call from icici customer care last Saturday and was offered FYF sapphiro. I told to process the card and was told that would take 10 days to receive the card. But I haven't received any update regarding the same after that. I called the customer care today regarding the same and was told there wasn't any offer like that. So was that a legit offer and has anyone else received similar call in the past.

So today I received a message that upgrade request has been registered and would take 7 working days to process.

Why not ? RuPay is Indian company, we need to support RuPay.

If you dnt need international transaction or dnt need both cards for ICICI ecom discount offer then apply for RuPay.

I mean it’s an effort to get it converted and if there no benefit I might just sit on it
Follow-up question on this, would I be able to add the Rupay card and earn points on normal UPI transaction? Would it be better to go with this or say SBI cashback or kiwi?

If you use your MC+Amex frequently, then MC+Amex earn from all transactions. That's why MasterCard, Amex and the USA gain more power to control other countries like puppets.

But if you dnt use your MC+Amex — like 99% of the time in a year — then there’s no benefit keep whatever card you want, it doesn’t make any difference.

Most of transactions are on Infinia, so was looking for a card that could be used with UPI hence was looking at Rupay cards

I recently got to know about the Alumni offer and applied for the Mastercard + Amex variant. Later saw the option to apply for the RuPay version in the iMobile app, figured why not as they are all LTF anyways.

The application process was smooth. I have an account with ICICI and I just had to send them my degree certificate. The application was approved in 3 days, cards showed up on iMobile a few hours after the approval. Applied for the RuPay card a week later, approved in less than an hour.

I know the card is basically useless apart from the BMS BOGO (not a frequent user, but nice to have) and ICICI card offers, but this was the easiest (and basically guaranteed) option to get an unsecured card in my case. The RuPay card will replace the secured SuperCard card for UPI transactions.

Is the BMS offer valid for the RuPay version? What happens to MC+Amex cards after conversion to Rupay? Do they get closed?

Thanks a lot. I am just worried that if they cancel my previous variants before even asking which will be a major loss for me. Also, all these ppl have been holding just dual variant and maybe that's why they got sapphiro rupay variant also. People who already hold Dual variant + visa variant may face cancellation of one of the variant automatically if they apply for sapphiro rupay.

Pls confirm if anyone has all 4 variants LTF.

Thanks for tag. Will mail them to get the Rupay Sapphiro soon. Currently already having Coral Rupay which is working as an add-on to Sapphiro (Dual) and is LTF. Getting used extensively these days for UPI payments.

Talked to ICICI in past on whether I can keep Coral Rupay on standalone basis? They said, no, you can't as closing Sapphiro AmEx will close this one also. So after getting Sapphiro on Rupay, will ask them to close coral Rupay or will keep it running. Kaunsa dukh de raha hai.
