Here goes my full story of the RBIO grievance and compensation.
1. I have been trying to get an IDFC First Credit Card since the end of 2023. Everytime, after filling details like emloyment details and C2C details (tried both with and without), the application displayed an error message 'Sorry We Can't Proceed' followed by a rejection SMS instantly. I tried n no of times but nothing worked including change in mobile number.
Then I decided to dig out the matter. Just called IDFC CC in January 2025 and asked for rejection reason and got reply due to historic delinquency (banking term for late payment / defaulter). I made my mind of complaining to RBIO and so started preparing the stage.
2. I mailed to PNO regarding the matter of CC rejections and asked exact reason right in the end of January 2025. As ususal PNO replied same historic delinquency. I have done root cause analysis myself and assumed that my Flipkart Pay Later powered by IDFC which gets reflected as Consumer Loan might have caused this issue, however no such later payment exists in any of my credit reports. So, I replied to PNO to proof my historic delinquency and attached Cibil Report of Jan'25. There was no reply from their side. As per RBI guideline, I again sent them a reminder in February to proof historic delinquency and attached my Feb'25 Cibil report. Again there was pin-drop silence with no reply and ignorance to my email.
In between I decided to Close Flipkart Pay Later, received NOC and also Closed in Cibil.
3. Finally in April 2025, I decided to raise grievance with RBIO. The facts of complaint and compensation amount in below SS:
4. Immediately after complaint I got call from PNO stating there was pre-approved CC for me and needed address verification. After providing details, they again went mute. Then I tried applying again, again same error message popped-up. Next day I got call stating pre-qualified Select CC with 3L limit, as document I provided ICICI Emaralde CC statement with 5L limit right in between call and performed v-kyc. After an hour got sms stating application rejected.
5. I got a mail from RBI CRPC asking for my explanation againt bank's statements with a word doc as attachment. My reply can be found in below SS:
6. Then after few days I called the IDFC CC and escalated. All of a sudden my IDFC SELECT CC got approved. Received MC network, but I was able to change to VISA network without 199+ GST charges stating RBI guideline of providing option to customer to select network during card issuance and giving threat of another RBIO complaint.
7. After few days, I received call from IDFC NO, requesting me to close the case and withdraw compensation request stating CC has been approved. But I sticked to my point of mental anguish. They requested to negotiate and decrease compensation amount to which I declined and they further asked for any alternate option. I has plan B ready and asked them to issue Private CC LTF, to which they told noted and will get back soon.
8. After few days IDFC PNO mailed me stating histortic delinquency has been corrected and attached a Cibil report from their side.
9. I took this oppurtunity and again complained to RBIO CRPC. Details in SS as below:
10. Finally on 2nd July 2025, RBIO has ordered compensation of INR 42,500 (425 days * Rs. 100). The closure email SS from RBIO as below:
11. Got email from IDFC PNO asking for scanned copy of cancelled cheque. I provided the same but they were delaying the processing of the compensation amount. Called them after 5 days and again on 17th about the delay in compensation and threatened to lodge complaint to RBIO against delay in compenstaion.
12. Finally after months of struggle, the result arrived. IDFC CC compensating to account in IDFC only. 😂😂
