Niyo Global / SBM Bank thinks I don’t know my DOB… but hey, reinstall the app 🤡

I applied for the Niyo Global SBM card after reading a bunch of online reviews. Everyone spoke about how smooth and convenient it was supposed to be for international travel and online usage. Honestly, I thought — why not? It seemed like a smart choice.

But here’s where the story took a turn. When I tried to activate my card, I hit a wall. The system said my date of birth didn’t match their records. My date of birth. The most basic piece of information that literally never changes. Now, here’s the kicker — inside the app, the DOB is showing correctly. So somewhere between the app and SBM’s backend, my birthday seems to have gone on a holiday. And I can’t for the life of me figure out how a bank, which is supposed to handle sensitive data and transactions, can mess up something as simple as a date of birth mapping.

I mean, this isn’t some random food delivery app where a typo on your profile picture doesn’t matter. This is a bank account. If they can’t align such a basic detail, how am I supposed to trust them with my money? What started out as a promising product based on reviews now feels like a nightmare of mismatched records and template support responses. All for something as fundamental as my DOB.
