Need review on Indian Bank

Swiggy used to give offer on Rupay platinum debit cards: 20% off upto Rs 100 on Fridays.(not sure if they have discontinued it now) My old Indian bank Rupay Platinum debit cards worked flawlessly for this offer but after the card expired I ordered a new Rupay Platinum debit card from Indian Bank's mobile app. Strangely this new Rupay platinum debit card was not eligible for the swiggy offer. Both swiggy and Indian bank's customer care people couldnt tell the reason for it.View attachment 99980

Does Indian bank's Rupay platinum Debit card still provide 1 Domestic+1 International Lounge visit per year without any spend criteria? I used their Rupay Platinum card once for Domestic lounge visit 2 years back. Not sure if any new TnCs have been added. The debit card doesnt work for Rupay Platinum card offers on Swiggy( even the bank's customer care is clueless about the reason behind this).View attachment 99957

The offer was working fine until I had my old Indian bank Rupay Platinum debit card before its merger with Allahabad bank( the pure black one). Once the Indianbank-Allahabad bank merger happened they changed the design of their Rupay platinum debit card and they also seem to have downgraded the benefits of Rupay platinum debit card. I personally liked their old Black debit card with embossed letters.

😅 If their Platinum rupay debit card still provides 1 domestic + 1 international lounge access without any spend criteria then it is not that bad for a Rs.1000 MAB savings account.

Yes I know it got discontinued in march 2025. But their new Rupay debit card stopped working for this offer since september 2024(when I got the new card with the Indianban-Allahabad bank logo). Before the merger with Allahabad bank their Rupay Platinum debit card BIN number started with 6080 but after the merger the new Rupay platinum debit card BIN started with 8173. The moment I typed the first 4 numbers in swiggy it said that this card is not eligible for the offer. Probably this is why the new debit card stopped working for some Rupay platinum offers. Indian bank's customer care people could not explain this simple reason when contacted. This definitely means they have downgraded Rupay platinum benefits post merger.

Yes, now it makes sense. BIN caused the issue, sad man. This merger was shit anyway. Indian bank ate allahabad bank completely.

The govt of India had no other choice at that time. Pre merger Allahabad bank was on the brink of collapse with gross npa reaching a whopping 17% and posting net loss in each quarter.It would have turned into yes bank/pmc bank had it not been merged. Indian bank, although smaller in size, had a stronger and cleaner balance sheet with gnpa 7% and net profitability in each quarter. Moreover Allahabad bank had strong presence in north and northeast while Indian bank in south. The merger made it a pan-india bank. Had Allahabad bank been more careful in managing their balance sheets then they would have acquired Indian bank and not the other way round. But still the current Indian bank needs a lot more improvement to catchup with the likes of SBI/BOB/PNB.
