This is their subscription based account 1500-1600 yearly I think so kindda same thing...

Not the same thing, each and every thing is free in that account, 1600 a year is a good deal.
Rupay platinum debit card free too.
After paying Rs 1600/- practically everything is free.
If u don't use your account, they even have dormancy charges of RS 114/- in the normal 500 maintenance account

I switched to freedom, never been happier. YMMV

RuPlat is useless now so 177 (for classic) + 100 (SMS charges waived for Maxx account with 5000 MAB) + 114 (dormancy: I mean I use my account but what the hell)

Unless you are ordering 15+ chequebooks in a year this account doesn't make sense and why would you be using cheques in a PSU bank anyway. Get one for emergencies and thats about it.

Again unless you are getting about 1200 in value, the subscription doesn't make sense.

Yes, this fact is hidden in the MITC somewhere. First of all their MITC is a scan of a printout so you can't even search it. Cunning fellows.

Yes it's eligible. For me what happened was they dispatched visa classic card for free despite me selecting rupay select on the form. I upgraded the card to rsdc via iob app they cut some 350 rs or so for the upgrade and dispatched it. No other charges for the card itself till now.

I dont think they limit RSDC to any account my account is 500 minimum balance I think, I opened it online and I see an option to upgrade to RSDC where they will cut 350 now and 800 annually from next year.
Does any account type offer it FYF? I think 50K average balance does that

So, is it safe to say that we might get the rupay select debit card for 527 (177 for visa classic & 350 for upgrade) for first year if we go via upgrade method?
